This was established in 1892, when Fairview Heights was part of Decatur County. It is still in use today. The next target was a .22 rifle at 171st Street and Wabash Avenue. This establishment was established in 1904 by John D’Angelo, who also ran the other businesses on that stretch of state road. It is now closed as it has been converted into a home. In 1912, another rifle target opened at 219th and State streets. It served as the home range for the Fairview Heights Rifle Club until it disbanded in 1945 due to World War II restrictions placed on gun ownership by Americans. In 1949, a new rifle target opened at 901 Eighty-third Street which served as home range for the “Horseshoe” shooting club from 1951-1958 when it moved to its current location across the street from Crystal Lake High School after being burned down twice during that time period. That same year saw the start of an annual event known as “The Chicago Gun Show” which took place at Soldier Field between May 6th-8th each year and attracted shooters from around the Midwest as well as international visitors including Canada and Mexico City; this event continues to be held annually today with varying dates depending on what city is hosting it (Chicago typically hosts it). Fairview Heights is a city located in the Cook County, Illinois area. The population was 20,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The city was named for George Fairfield, an early settler and congressman from Connecticut who invested in land hereabouts. In 1871, Fairview Heights became a municipality with its own government and elected officials. Prior to that it was just one of many small villages dotting the rolling hills around Cook County's northeast corner. The first post office in what became Fairview Heights opened on July 1, 1868. At first there were only three residents: John Jonson, Eliza Mayhew and their daughter Fanny; all of whom operated a grocery store on Dearborn Street near Madison Avenue. By 1890 there were over 100 people living in Fairview Heights proper and about 150 people living scattered throughout several rural farms adjoining it. In 1907, when Chicago annexed much of upper Illinois (the original village boundaries had been unchanged since they were Drawn up under English law according to which villages formed part of each township),Fairview Heights got its own town site line - just north of Cicero Avenue then east-west along Pulaski Road - making it one of the last municipalities annexed into Chicago proper before South Side annexation completed in 1919. At that time most affluent suburbs such as Des Plaines and Berwyn had already been annexed while working class neighborhoods like Humboldt Park remained largely unincorporated until after World War II whenvenants were rewritten to allow these areas rapid growth through annexation by more affluent suburbs during that period known as "deindustrialization." At present day even though Tower District has now completely surrounded the Village core since 1965 due to suburban expansion beyond downtownChicago limits outside the City's current zoning district ( bounded by Randolph Street on the west side (northwest boundary), Wacker Drive on the east side (southwest boundary), Michigan Avenue on the north side (east boundary) & Ashland Road on the south side ( southeast boundary)),and tower developments have reached inside or adjacent them so much as to create various parklands/open spaces extending essentially all around them within walking distance for most residents including some above 1 million dollars per annum combined income level(approximately 1000 acres or approximately 4 square miles within 3 miles perimeter) tower development continues mainly/solely inside historic ward boundaries defined as follows: according to deeds surveyor's recordsfairview heights police precinct begins at Ashland Rd., extends easterly along Randolph St., turns southerly parallel to Erie St., thence proceeding generally westerly past McCormick Place until reaching Wacker Dr./Michigan Ave./Ashland Rd.; *excludes portions lying within former Cicero Township limits

In 1836, John Quincy Adams became president of the United States and his wife Abigail died soon after. Adams decided to move into one of the many presidential residences in Washington D.C., which he called "Fairview Heights." Adams spent most of his time here during his presidency, but also traveled throughout America frequently. In 1840, Fairview Heights made history when it became home to the first black person to be elected as a U.S. citizen - Elijah Muhammad (later renamed Malcolm X). After Muhammad's death, Fairview Heights continued to grow with new residents coming from all over America. Today, Fairview Heights is an affluent community located in north-central Illinois that features high-end shopping centers and restaurants as well as plenty of recreational opportunities such as tennis courts and golf courses.
