As a result, many of these original settlers moved to what is now Decatur, Alabama or Mobile, Alabama after that event. In 1892, J. Pritzker founded Pritzker Automobiles which became one of Chicago's largest companies with plants in Downers Grove and fairview heights. The plant produced some of the world's earliest luxury cars such as the Rangoon and Brougham automobiles.
