The Fairview Heights Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The first rifle was an old .357 Magnum revolver that the club used to shoot at practice. In 1907, the club moved from its original home on Topeka Street to a building on Irving Place in Fairview Heights. The building served as the clubhouse for many years before it was replaced by the current structure in 1984.
Fairview Heights is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was organized on November 15, 1857 as a part of the newly formed Chicago Territory. On December 1, 1857, it became a municipality and on February 14, 1860 its name was changed to Fairview Heights. The first post office opened in Fairview Heights on March 8, 1860. The first school in FairVIEW HIGHSETTS opened in 1870. In 1880 it had a population of 571 and by 1890 it had grown to 2,036 with an enrollment of 1,898 students and 606 businesses. In 1925 the township elected its first female Mayor Mrs Anna Ladd (D). On January 1st 1909 FairVIEW HEIGHTS became one of 50 townships in Cook County when it was split from DuPage County. On January 1st 1927 fairVIEW HEIGHTS again elected their own mayor Mrs Anna Ladd (D). She served until her death on February 25th 1929 after which time she was succeeded by her son Mr Edward JLADD who served until his election as Mayor on October 3rd 1933 which he did not win but ended up being re-elected due to term limits set into law at that time

Fairview Heights is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois. The population was 2,569 at the 2010 census. It was incorporated on November 3, 1868. The first known settler in what is now Fairview Heights was Amasa Jameson who arrived in 1837. He purchased land from the Native Americans and built a cabin on the banks of the Des Plaines River. In 1838, John Wollaston also settled in what is now Fairview Heights. He had arrived from England with his family and founded a flour mill in nearby Drydenville. The first school in Fairview Heights was organized by Simeon Fuller on October 15, 1841. In 1865, Revs. Elisha Cook and Daniel Webster offered to open up a school for poor children at Fairview Heights which became known as "Pioneer School." An agricultural society was formed at FairVIEW HEIGHTS on April 10, 1870 which conducted experiments with raising corn and other crops near the current site of Lincoln Park where field tests were made with canals to provide irrigation water for agriculture; this organization later became part of the city of Chicago's Water Supply Department under Mayor Thompson's leadership.) The Village ofFairVIEW HEIGHTS consolidated with neighboring townsituations ON NOVEMBER 03rd1868ALL AGES PROPERTY OWNERSHIP FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY WAS DISTRIBUTED TO THE MEMBERS OF THE FORMERVillage OF FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS . ALL ORGANIZATIONS HAVE NOW BEEN TRANSFERRED TO THE CITY OF DUPAGE CITY .
The village of Fairview Heights was founded in 1836 by John A. FairVIEW and his wife, Nancy. The village had a population of only thirty-six people in 1837, but it grew rapidly following the opening of the Erie Canal. In 1851, the Village Council voted to name the village after George Washington FairVIEW, who had been president at the time. In 1870, the Erie Canal was completed and changed the landscape of much of central Illinois. The canal madeFairview Heights an important transportation center and caused many businesses to move to Fairview Heights from other parts of town. By 1925,Fairview Heights had a population of over 1,100 people. During World War II, Fairview Heights played an important role in providing military supplies for war efforts in Europe. In 1945,the city government merged with nearby South Holland to form Chicago’s first city-county union. This merger created new economic opportunities for Fairview Heights and many other townspeople across Chicago. Today, Fairview Heights remains a vibrant community with active cultural programs and a rich history that is celebrated each year during its annual Festival of Lights
