That year, a man by the name of George Sabin purchased a shotgun and started shooting at small game in his backyard. His neighbors soon began to bring their own shotguns to shoot at the local trees and bushes. In1901, Sabin moved into a larger home and began marketing his new product-Target Holder-to other homeowners in the area. The next year saw the installation of wrought iron supports for holding targets on trees near Wabash Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Evergreen Park. This location was chosen because it offered perfect viewing conditions for shooters from all around town and also had good access to power for shooting targets without having to leave their homes. In 1904, Target Holder became part of the Browning Firearms company and continued production under that name until 1924 when it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company Ltd., becoming known as Winchester Rifle & Shotgun Corporation Ltd.. Production continued through World War II but stopped after 1945 due to declining demand from gun enthusiasts worldwide. Today, only a few examples remain standing of these early target holders,, one located on Wabash Avenue in Evergreen Park, Illinois and one located on Eastern Parkway in what is now Maywood Heights neighborhood in Chicago suburb of Elmhurst

Evergreen Park is a city located in the Chicago metropolitan area, on the north side of the Chicago River. The population was 77,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cook County, Illinois, region. The first settlers in Evergreen Park were farmers and their families who arrived in 1847 from Decatur County, Illinois. They cleared land and built homes near what is now Wabash Avenue and North Side Drive. In 1855, they founded a town square named after them called "Everest". The name was changed to "Evergreen Park" in 1870 when a group of Icicle Point residents offered to donate land for a new city hall and cemetery. In 1898, Evergreen Park became home to Northwestern Memorial Hospital which played an important role in helping create Chicagoland's medical infrastructure during the early years of that community's growth. In 1907, Northwestern Memorial Hospital merged with Mount Sinai Hospital to form Northwestern Memorial–Mount Sinai Hospital which remains one of Chicago's largest healthcare providers today. Evergreen Park also has its own school system with six schools: two elementary schools (Mt Olivet School & Ridgefield School), two middle schools (Homeschool Academy & Casa de la Esperanza Elementary), one high school (Chicago Latin High) which serves as both a daycare center and secondary school for all four elementary schools as well as three high-school programs: baseball/softball/cheerleading; dance; online learning; technology/edtech; visual arts & design; music education . In 1911, America entered World War I with declarations of war against Germany. As a result, many businesses across the country closed down due to lack of support from government coffers. However, one business that did not suffer was The Gutenberg Holder Company who continued production despite being out of business for three years straight! Despite this situation, The company’s president decided to restart production shortly before America entered World War II in order to help contribute money towards the war effort. To date, The Gutenberg Holder Company has still not failed in its mission: manufacturing high-quality Shooting Targets!
