Evergreen Park was once home to Chicago's first outdoor shooting range, the Evergreen Park Rifle and Pistol Club. The club was founded in 1892, and served as a training ground for Chicago police officers and other law enforcement personnel. In 1905, the rifle and pistol club sold its property to the city of Chicago, which used it as a park. The rifle and pistol club continued to meet there until 1961, when they moved to an old mill in the Greenfield section of town. The Evergreen Park Rifle and Pistol Club is one of several organizations that still uses their original building in Evergreen Park today. The building has been used as a museum since 1978, and is open to the public Fridays from 2-5pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm, Sundays from 1-3pm. There are also monthly meetings held in the building every other month.

Evergreen Park is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 33,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Evergreen" comes from the bark of a tree that grows in Evergreen Forest near Chicago. The first settler in what is now Evergreen Park was John Hennepin who arrived around 1836. By 1854 there were over 100 people living in the area and it had its own post office. The community grew rapidly due to farming and manufacturing interests that developed here beginning in the late 1800s. Manufacturing included tanning and dyeing goods, brickmaking and other construction materials, soap production (from lye), as well as cigars and cigarettes for American Tobacco Company's stores statewide. In 1911, land was bought on the north side of Soldier Field by millionaire William Randolph Hearst for his private estate called Hearst Manor which would include a large parkland overlooking Lake Michigan with numerous homes and staff buildings including a library and movie theater complex on one end while another wing held an amusement park including a waterpark and zoo on the other end with an observation deck giving access to all of downtown Chicago down to Wrigley Field where baseball games were played until 1974! Hearst had plans to use this land for housing but nothing came of them until he donated it to the city of Chicago in 1943 after his death because he wanted his estate used more efficiently for public purposes such as education, recreation, green space etc., something which would finally happen when new Mayor Richard M. Daley agreed to turn it into one big public urban reserve! He also laid out what is now Loop Drive (the street running east-west through town) so everyone could get close to him without having to go far outside their homes! After World War II ended things quickly went back upswing with businesses starting up again such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Jardine's Confectionery Company (later Jardine Matheson) which produced noted chocolates like Peanut Butter Cups (still made today!) then Knoppers Drug Store before becoming Macy's Department Store before being sold off multiple times during suburban expansionism throughout the 60s-'70s '80s-'90s only making it back into focus under current owner Bamberger Marcus since 2003? The last time anything really happened here was when some kids set off fireworks inside Macy's department store in 1993 causing local TV news correspondent Pat McCormick much embarrassment live on air

Evergreen Park is a census-designated place in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,865 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1864 by George Armstrong Custer and Jesse Herndon as a small farming community east of Chicago. In 1871 Evergreen Park became one of the first towns in Cook County. In 1967 it merged with nearby Lombard to form the larger city of Chicago. Evergreen Park is located in northeasternCook County on the banks of the Calumet River. Of particular interest are its large Epstein farmlands, which were donated to the town by Epstein after he bought them from his father-in-law; and its 1866 Elmwood Avenue cemetery which contains some of Illinois' earliest burial records. The name 'Evergreen' originated with a grove of trees near where the town was founded and was chosen because it resembled similar growths elsewhere in Northern Illinois. The area now known as Evergreen Park was first settled by Europeans in 1864 when General George Armstrong Custer arrived with his army from Kansas City to help suppress Native American resistance against US expansionism into what is now Michigan Territory (now Oklahoma). After General Custer's victory over Indian forces at Battle Creek on July 10,1863, many settlers decided to move westward into what is now Cook County for economic reasons as well as access to land that had not been grabbed yet by other pioneer groups such as those who had come from Indiana or Iowa. In addition to General Custer's troops being stationed here temporarily during 1863-1865, two other generals—John Atherton and David Dixon— also spent time here while fighting against Indians southwest ofChicago along the Calumet River near present day Edwardsville/Elmwood Avenue junction. This period saw heavy immigration from Europe including Germans who began moving into this area beginning around 1840 and Irish Catholics who had immigrated since 1800. The first European settler named John Epstein came ashore on October 11th 1866 aboard USS "Boston" from New York City after sailing downriver from Baltimore Harbor loaded with goods he purchased at auction off shore for $5 per barrel ($140 worth today). His family soon moved onto their own farmstead north of Elkwood Ave., about three miles east of present day Evergreen Park Cemetery site (now part of Lombard Township). He donated much acreage within what would eventually become Evergreen Park back then – including much land still within current Lombard Township boundaries – making him one of early immigrants instrumental in starting up this community today even though he himself only lived until age 88 years old! A few months later another early settler – Isaac Schiffman – landed his boat with eleven men on August 12th 1870 just northofpresentday North Shore Drive Light House just outside Chicago's downtown limits - thus becoming oneofthe earliest residents permanently establishedinChicago! All these people helped contribute greatly towards developing modern day Evergreen Park culture and history!
Evergreen Park was founded in 1871 by Congregationalist ministers and laymen. The park is named for the Evergreen tree that stands in its center, a symbol of eternal life. It has been home to many famous people, including Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Jackie Robinson.
