Evergreen Park is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Evergreen Park was platted in 1871 by John P. Moynihan and his son-in-law, Edward Everett Mifflin, as an all-black settlement on land donated by noted abolitionist Frederick Douglass. The town's first post office was established on April 5, 1872; it closed in 1969. The original Evergreen Park Golf Course was built in 1906 and remains one of the most popular courses within the city of Chicago for golfers of all levels. The village of Evergreen Park merged with the town of Westchester in 1978 to form a larger municipality known today as Evergreen Park Township.
