Evergreen Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Evergreen" comes from two early settlers, Ebenezer Evergreen and his son Jonathan Evergreen, who purchased 1/4 acre (0.24 km2) of land in 1793 for $100. The first post office in Evergreen Park was established on April 12, 1854; it was renamed to its present name on November 8, 1875. The first store in the town was opened by Charles Wickersham on October 25, 1876; it became J & C Woolworth Company Store No. 2 on December 6 of that year. In 1886 Harry Wirth built the first home in Evergreen Park and named it Lakeview House after himself and his wife Anna Laddis Wirth; they had bought the house from John Richardson around that time. Mrs.Wirth later donated her estate to the city for use as a parkland which still stands today outside of downtown Chicago with a golf course within it

Evergreen Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 43,723 as of the 2010 census. It is the largest city in the Chicago metropolitan area and one of the most populous cities in Illinois. In 1847, the United States Congress passed a bill to create an area for housing within what is now Evergreen Park. The first homes were built on land that was donated by John Pemberton and others who had bought a tract of land east of Michigan Avenue. The City of Chicago purchased additional land from Pemberton in 1868, creating Evergreen Park Township. The first election to be held in Evergreen Park took place on November 3, 1871 when James Whelan was elected Mayor. That same year saw the opening of the first store in town - a dry goods store run by George Washington Hynes and his son-in-law John Fenton - which served as nucleus for what would become Evergreen Park's commercial history. By 1875, there were six stores located throughout the community - four located on North Kimball Street and two on West Side Highway - with twice that number open by 1880. The Village Green Shopping Center opened its doors to shoppers on October 17th, 1951 – making it one of only two shopping centers open during McCarthyism (the other being Kmart). Just off Western Road next to Roosevelt High School was another early center – Minton's Department Store which opened its doors September 15th, 1955 after three years of construction including ten stories high! In 1966, American Express moved their headquarters from downtown Chicago to One Lincoln Plaza before eventually moving again into their current building at 111 South Dearborn Street in 1984; this move followed American Express' acquisition by Jardine Matheson Holdings Incorporated (JMHI) and their subsequent merger with Travelers Insurance Group (TIG). At approximately this time too, KFC joined TJ Maxx as an anchor tenant at One Lincoln Plaza; marking one final change at One Lincoln Plaza before it closed its doors for good later that year following JMHI's sale to Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC). The last major tenant at One Lincoln Plaza was Sears until they vacated it for good in 2016 following disharmony between SHC and Sears over inventory levels and management decisions made during CEO Frank Robinson's tenure; this led to allegations that corporate restructuring efforts prioritized cost savings over customer satisfaction among other changes implemented during Robinson's watch period. After years of vacancy Searches starting January 1st began yielding results beginning February 5th for several properties across various reaches including FirstEnergy Stadium listings starting March 8th with plans underway for 100 acres near campus! A new mixed use development called "One Chicago" will soon be constructed adjacent to FirstEnergy Stadium adjacent to I-290 providing much needed automotive parking beyond existing parking lots currently available adjacent thereto upon request especially given congestion issues currently facing surrounding LP Field/FirstEnergy Stadium combined!
The first Europeans to see Evergreen Park were the French in 1762, when they constructed a fur trading post on the site. The area was surveyed by the United States in 1812 as part of the Treaty of Paris following the War of 1812. The first permanent settler in Evergreen Park was Isaac Westfall, who arrived in 1824. He founded what is now known as Westfall Township. In 1835, two brothers named George and Andrew Jackson bought land near present-day Navy Pier for $1,000. They founded Jackson County and built a farm there called "Evergreen." In 1850, Evergreen Park became part of Cook County.
