Evergreen Park, Illinois is a suburb of Chicago, and straddles the border between Cook County and Kane County. The population was 23,898 as of the 2010 census. It is bordered by the communities of Westchester on the north, Lawndale on the west, Evergreen Gardens on the south, and Oak Lawn to its east. In addition to being an affluent community with tree-lined streets and large homespun yards, Evergreen Park also has a strong sense of community that connects residents from all walks of life. The first settlers in what is now Evergreen Park were farmers who arrived in 1847 from Massachusetts. The area that would become Evergreen Park was part of a larger tract known as "The Gables." This land was given to Daniel Hynes in 1851 for his services as a trustee for the town of Burr Ridge. The name "Evergreen" was chosen by Msgr. George Washington Kapp (1789-1860) during his visit to Burr Ridge in 1852-53. He saw many tall evergreens near Burr Ridge creek and decided that this location would be appropriate for a new town center where people could gather for religious services and trade goods. The first post office in Evergreen Park was established in 1872 under the name "Burr Ridge." In 1896, it changed its name to "Evergreen Heights." That year saw the opening of one of Chicago's most famous shopping malls – Jackson Square – which anchored Illinois Highway 95 just north of downtownChicago. Today Jackson Square remains an important shopping destination with over 100 stores inside its walls; but at its peak it had more than two thousand retail tenants spanning sixty states and Canada! In 1994, when Congress passed laws establishing public education through local school districts throughout Illinois instead of through state run systems like those found in other Midwestern states such as Ohio or Michigan, much attention was paid to whether or not Ever Green park would be included within Cook County's proposed new district boundaries - which would have stretched from Lakeview neighborhoods on the South Side up into Loopwood on North Side! However despite vocal opposition from some members within Cook County government - led by then Superintendent Forrest Claypool - including Mayor Richard Moccasin - county officials ultimately decided against expanding their jurisdiction too far into what were considered largely white suburban areas outside their traditional territory! This decision came after years of hearings during which parents expressed concerns about potential safety issues posed by open enrollment practices used by local schools within Cook County using data collected via phone surveys conducted with students ages five through eighteen… these practices amounted to “comparable” tracking/tracking devices placed inside classrooms doorways without parental permission or knowledge!! Simultaneously home addresses were being gathered long before any student had even entered kindergarten!!! As Head Start expanded rapidly into northwest suburban Chicago - soon followed by Willowbrook Primary School located across Route 66 southbound off I-290 - proponents argued that if they didn’t include EverGREEN PARK within their proposed boundaries then those schools might go out OF business because Ofsted inspectors cannot inspect facilities situated outside Ofsted Area………. Unfortunately this did not sit well with many parents whose children attend these same schools….. Some parents even took their cases directly to City Hall where they met with Mayor Richard Moccasin himself !!! After carefully examining all sides OF THE ISSUE including both sides Of Anundra Road right next door To Willowbrook Primary School we determined that there are NO Safety risks associated WITH OPEN ENrollment IN EVERGREEN PARK!!!! We applaud our city officials FOR THEIR DECISION TO STAND UP TO CHICAGO POLITICS AND INCLUDE EVERGREEN PARK IN THEIR PROJECT BOUNDARIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evergreen Park, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 37,682 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name was chosen to honor the natural groves of Evergreen trees that stand near the city limits. The first settler in what would become Evergreen Park was James Soane in 1837. Soane and his family bought 640 acres (253 ha) of land around what is now North Avenue and West Side Drive from George Rogers Clark in 1838. They named their new settlement after the large evergreen tree on their property which they saw while driving through their forested surroundings. In 1841, Alexander Hamilton donated 1,000 acres (500 ha) of land to the town of Chicago for development as an agricultural district called "Evergreen Park". The Arboretum and Botanical Garden were established in Evergreen Park in 1865 by Drs John Lawlor and Lewis Fenton as part of a gift from Hamilton. In 1893, following annexation by Chicago, EverGreen Park became a municipal corporation with its own government including a mayor and six council members. In 1909, due to heavy flooding caused by Hurricane Agnes, much damage occurred to many homes and businesses within the city limits including Evergreen Park Station on Archer Road adjacent to Busch Gardens amusement park across Pulaski Road from Lakeview Cemetery; destroyed homes included those owned by J P Morgan & Co., Guaranty Trust Company/Life Insurance Company/National City Bank/First National Bank; among these Lossless Homes No One Died resulted from insurance claims made against these organizations post-Agnieses flood.. On October 3rd 1907 Mayor Edward Everett McCormick announced that all remaining unoccupied lots within city limits that had not been leased or sold since 1904 were offered for sale at $1 per acre plus interest at 7%. This event marked the beginning of home ownership within city limits for most residents.. On December 5th 1907 McCormick issued an ordinance authorizing condemnation proceedings against any properties not being used for housing or other public purposes within five years without having been registered with him as owner or occupant.. Beginning February 11th 1908 local newspapers reported that over 2200 properties had been condemned resulting in forfeiture of ownership rights to some owners who could not be located or who had already surrendered their titles prior to condemnation proceedings commencing .

Evergreen Park was founded in 1892 by Horace Greeley and is now a city in the Illinois Valley region of the United States. The park was named for Evergreen Hill, which is located within its boundaries.
