Elmwood Park, Illinois is a small town in Kane County, Illinois. It was founded in 1878 by John A. Holster and his wife Eliza Jane Holster. The town name is derived from the Boston Post Office address of Elmwood Avenue and Elm Street which were two of its original streets. Elmwood Park is located on the edge of the Chicago metropolitan area, about 20 miles north of the city proper and 40 miles south of St. Louis Mo., making it one of the most ethnically diverse areas in Illinois. In addition to its large African American population, Elmwood Park also features a sizable Hispanic community as well as numerous Italian-American and Polish-American residents. The town has longstanding ties to both Bearskin Archery Company and The Elks Lodge #527 which have been its primary source of social support for decades. The company has since closed but their influence remains strong in Elmwood Park through their presence at various events including annual golf tournaments held at the nearby Pembroke country Club, carnival rides operated by local businesses such as Dollar General Store, bowling alley operated by Joes Pizza Place (now Joe's Pizza), and many other businesses that continue to line Elmwood Avenue with memories of good times past.

Frary and it consisted of a belt with an attached knife. The brother of John Frary, George Frary, started making holsters for people in 1851. In 1882, the company name changed to Kossuth Manufacturing Company and then to Colt Firearms Corporation. In 1911, Colt Firearms Corporation merged with Remington Arms Company and the company became Colt-Remington Industries Incorporated. In 1934, the company reverted back to its original name: Colt- Remington Industries Incorporated.
Elmwood Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,846 at the 2010 census. Elmwood Park is located on the exclave of Elmwood Heights between Chicago and Evanston. Elmwood Park was first settled in 1847 by refugees from Green Bay, Wisconsin who were displaced during the American Civil War. The village of Elmwood was founded in 1892 by Rev. W.E.Gunn and his wife Emilie. In 1903, the name of the town was changed to Elmwood Park after a donation by Mrs. John Atherton (1862-1937). The community was also renamed for Eleanor Roosevelt (1914-2009), First Lady of America from 1933 to 1945, when she moved to New York City as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal programs following her husband's election as Ulysses S. Grant's Vice President that year. Atherton had been an aide to James Buchanan during his successful gubernatorial campaign in 1879 and 1880 and later served as mayor of Madison, Wisconsin from 1902-04 before moving to Elmhurst Park where he died in 1937 at the age of 83 years old having beenoctogenarian since 1916 The first school opened in 1897 with 3 students which soon grew into 9 classes with over 100 children graduating each year until 1914 when progressive teachers were replaced by more modern methods In 1915 a new barn and farmstead were built which became home to one hundredStudents until 1951 when it closed due to deteriorating physical health but reopened as a museum dedicated to early education called "Kindergarten through 12th Grade: A History" In 1954 two new classrooms were added along with playground equipment making it possible for Kindergartners 4th through 8th grades while also accommodating overflow crowds coming out for day care or their own children playing nearby In 1957 a third classroom addition followed providing needed space for expandable play areas that continue today including three soccer fields plus two baseball diamonds . Since then there have been four additions all adding new classrooms total ,six basketball courts , six tennis courts . Additions continue today with plans for another gymnasium/multilingual language program

Elmwood Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It was formed from the merger of two other small towns, Elmwood and Arlington Heights on November 3, 1914. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The name comes from Elmwood Avenue and Elmwood Road which run through it. The first settler in what is now Elmwood Park was John Hegarty who arrived in 1847. By 1851 there were 10 houses in the community. The first school opened in 1853 and by 1860 there were 15 students attending it. In 1865 a post office was established at Elmwood Park with David Wibert as its first mail carrier. Early businesses included grain-carrying wagons that stopped at the edge of town to pick up sacks of corn; a gristmill started by Dutchman Joris van der Velde; a store operated by Prentice and Sons until 1886 when it became part of the National Grains Company; an armory built in 1904; and one or two farms until 1916 when all but one were sold to various purchasers including Arthur Sager who later bought into Wabash Coal Mines east of Elk Grove Village It wasn’t until after World War I that real development began with Elmwood Park becoming home to several businesses related to war production including munitions plants and shipyards located along Michigan Avenue near Hometown Road (now Schaefer Drive). After 1945 many companies moved out or closed their doors during the economic recession caused by overproduction during World War II followed by increased competition from overseas industries In 1951 construction began on what would become known as “the world’s largest building” – then $100 million dollars for a housing project only 8 years later – with residents being relocated from their original homes across village Square into new single family dwellings called “The Villages” . There has never been more than 350 people living in any given building at one time . Only four buildings remain from those days: One house remodeled as apartments overlooking Village Square (demolished), another converted into storage after being abandoned for many years, two vehicles used for parking purposes circa 1970-1975, and a few pieces of furniture remaining inside some doorways today
