Elmwood Park is a suburb of Chicago in the United States. It is bordered by Elmhurst to the north, Hinsdale to the east, and Englewood to the south. The population was 24,812 at the 2010 census. Ammunition manufacturing began in Elmwood Park in 1869. Ammunition production has continued through various owner changes, mergers, and closures throughout its history. In 1903, Smith & Wesson begins their first ammunition plant in Elmwood Park with a workforce of fifteen men. This factory produced 7mm rounds for use in revolvers and pistols until 1934 when they discontinued production due to World War II shortages of ammo. The company reopened in 1945 but closed again because of budget concerns during the war years. In 1951 Browning begins producing ammunition here as well with a workforce of seventy-five men; this facility produces 9mm rounds for handguns and shotguns until it closes its doors on October 1st, 1984 due to financial difficulties caused by low demand from law enforcement agencies across America (Browning had been marketing their 5" SDI magnums exclusively to police departments). In 1990 Springfield Armory opens up shop here with an initial workforce of sixty-five employees; this company produces both 9mm rounds for handguns and rifles as well as shotgun shells utilizing traditional percussion technology. As Springfield Armory continues expansions into new products such as 1911 magazines and XM193 bullets they are able to hire even more people so that by 2004 they have a workforce of two hundred fifty-six individuals who produce over one thousand different types of ammunition products including rimfire rounds for firearms and target ammo for hunting purposes. Today there are three companies that operate within Elmwood Park - Smith & Wesson Corp., Springfield Armory Corp., and Browning Arms Incorporated - each with their own unique product line which allows these businesses to remain competitive against larger counterparts without sacrificing customer service or quality control processes (in fact all three businesses have been family owned since their inception!). Each company employs hundreds or even thousands of individuals throughout Illinois providing local employment opportunities not only for residents within Elmwood Park but also those living outside the city limits!

Elmwood Park is located on the border of Will County and Kane County. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village of Elmwood Park was organized in 1881 when it was merged with other villages east of Lake Michigan to form what is now Cook County. The first mayor and clerk were named George Hinchey and James Caldwell respectively. As Village Green Shopping Center opened in 1922, Elmwood Park had its own post office which closed on October 15th, 2003 due to budget cuts by then- Mayor Richard Monell According to the 2010 census, 69% of the village's residents are below poverty line; 25% are college graduates or higher; 12% are working class (less than $25/week); 4% have a disability. In 2008-2009 only 1 out of every 10 households had internet service in their home while 24% reported having no phone service at all. According to Village Hall records as of February 2017 there has been no new building permits issued since 2006 despite an increase in population and development within the boundaries of Elmwood Park Village limits The "Village Green" shopping center that opened in 1922 remains one of Elmwood Park's most popular tourist destinations today with over 20 outlets including several clothing stores, a restaurant/barbecue joint, two banks - one full time and one seasonal - as well as various accessory businesses like jewelers' windows and gift shops catering to visitors from throughout Chicagoland Elmwood Park also boasts several parks within its boundaries including John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum (opened in 1983), Hendricks Oval (home field for local high school teams) and Playground Plaza which features a large waterpark open during summer months

Elmwood Park is a small town in the northwestern part of Illinois, United States. The population was 1,954 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and has a large military base on its eastern edge. The town was founded in 1871 by two brothers, George and Jesse Elmwood. They named it after their father's estate in Buckinghamshire, England. The Elmwoods were among the original settlers of Chicago; they had come to America as indentured servants in 1847. In 1873, they opened a general store in what is now Elmwood Park. One year later, they erected a white frame building for their store that still stands today. In 1875, Jesse Elmwood married Sarah Jane Hebert from Dixon Township (now Kane County). Their first child was born there in 1876; Sarah Jane died soon thereafter due to tuberculosis brought on by her husband's illness. The Elmwoods moved to Elston Heights in 1886 when their second child was born; however, within three years of moving into that house, Sarah Jane again succumbed to tuberculosis and died at the age of 34 years old. Sarah Jane Hebert may have also been responsible for helping start Elmwood Park's first school - which opened its doors for instruction on October 22nd, 1886 - though this information is not generally known about her life or work thereabouts (although she may have been involved with setting up classrooms downtown). By 1890-91, when Elston Heights became too small for both families and they returned eastward along with some other residents of Elston Heights into what is now Waterford Township (later Cook County), Sarah Jane Hebert's descendants continued running the school there until it closed down around 1975/1976 because it could not keep up with community demand for additional education opportunities outside ofElmwood Park itself). After Sarah Jane’s death however – as per family tradition – her children took over running things until finally one daughter gave up control and sold it all back to the family around 1990-1991 timeframe which then went through more management changes before finally being shuttered again sometime between 2002-2003 but reopened once again around 2006-2007 as part ofCook County Parks initiative Today’s current owners are descendants from her third son who purchased it back from them circa 2007 It should be noted that even though Mrs Hebert left no will behind upon her death some property holdings did go back to her children including: an open field adjacent to home where picnics are often held during summer months as well as 2 small parcels next door located near street intersection which currently house a private garage used by family members only There are also 3 nosy unrelated people living on these parcels doing nothing but eyeing everything going on without ever contributing anything ! A few notable events associated with this early pioneer days include: In 1899 Reverend John Geddes preached his last sermon at Zion Lutheran Church here while Mayor George Ryan officiated; On April 15th 1903 President Theodore Roosevelt made his inaugural address here while Vice President Al Smith responded; On September 8th 1907 construction began on Navy Pier here following completion of tracks leading thereto from LaPorte Street & Dearborn Avenue During World War I almost all manufacturing capacity within city limits shifted inland towards Navy Pier due to need for supplies shipped out via ship rather than through land routes limiting transportation options available immediately afterward Many businesses closed including: Jughead Barber Shop owned and operated by John Nugent since 1903 Fenton Glass works located directly across Dearborn Ave from navy pier productivity decreased resulting in decision by owner Harry Hutton not reopen after WWI era despite high demand having occurred prior Some notable landmarks/facilities associated with Naval Pier during those times include: USS McCloy moored here intermittently starting circa 1922 until 1945 when she sailed away permanently Lordship House located opposite Marina Point dock later becoming hotel CTA elevated line stop just south side Admiral James Kearsarge moored here permanent beginning 1923 Visitarratives Online photo album retrievedJuly 9th 2009)

The population of Elmwood Park more than tripled during the late 1800s, and prosperity ensued. Elmwood Park became a popular place to live and work, with a wide variety of businesses and residences available. The park experienced another period of growth in the 1920s, thanks to its location within walking distance of many businesses and neighborhoods. In the 1940s and 1950s, Elmwood Park enjoyed an era of growth that paralleled that of Chicago itself. Many new homes were built in the area, contributing to an increase in population density. In recent years, however, Elmwood Park has been struggles with decline. Its population has decreased by almost half since 2000 – one reason may be its proximity to other larger cities on the city's north side. Additionally, there have been efforts to redevelop or create new parks in adjacent areas which have not resulted in large increases in enrollment or economic activity at Elmwood Park
