This business provided storage space for arms dealers across Chicago area and supplied weapons to various battles throughout World War I In 1925, Emanuel Ringel decided to open an armory within Elmwood Park on State Street In 1938-1939 Samuel Colt bought out Emanuel Ringel's interest in the armory and started producing revolvers under their own name In 1945-1946 American Military Munitions Corporation (AMMC) built a plant within Elmwood Park that produced artillery rounds including 105mm howitzers This plant closed down in 1949 due to budgetary limitations

The project consisted of an 8 block stretch from Wabash Avenue to Higgins Boulevard extending along Addison Street between State Street and Randolph Road leading to Wacker Drive where it would join up with Michigan Avenue forming what would now be known as West Side Drive. The $130 million dollar project began construction in late 2007 with initial ribbon cutting taking place on November 17th 2009 just days shy of its 10 year anniversary In April 2011 five remaining properties located east of its planned section were purchased by local developer Ron Burkholder who pledged to redevelop them into over 12 acres parkland incorporating sports fields、a library\/council chambers\/district office building\/ elementary school addition totaling . Elmwood Park was founded in 1836 by John and Sarah Elmwood. The Elmwoods ran a gristmill and sawmill on their home property until the early 1800s. In 1851, they bought land for a school on the east side of Elmwood Park. The first school building was built in 1857. In 1860, the Elmwoods donated land to create a park that would include their home property and serve as a public playground and recreation area. The park was renamed Elmwood Park after John Elmwood died in 1865.
