The Elmhurst-John Fenton Wilson Junction Station opened on November 24, 1929. On September 9, 1932 the RTD merged with the Chicago and North Western Railway to form the Chicago Interurban Railway (CIR). On May 1, 1941 the CIR merged with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to become the Chicago Metro Division of the Mayor's Office for Transportation (MOT).

Elmhurst, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 30,925 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was first settled in 1836 and named for John Elmhurst, an original settler. Elmhurst first became a village in 1853 and then a town in 1859. The townsite was annexed by the city of Chicago on February 14, 1898. Elmhurst has been home to Ives-designed churches since its incorporation as a town;these include First Methodist Church (1896), Christ Episcopal Cathedral (1904), and St. Joseph's Catholic Church (1908). In 1916, Elmhurst organized its own fire brigade which remains today one of the most active municipal units in the city of Chicago. The former Elmhurst High School building now houses Elisabeth Setterfield Girls' Academy and The Harold Washington Presidential Library & Museum

Elmhurst was a small village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is now part of the city of Chicago. The population was 1,000 at the time of incorporation in 1868. The village was laid out on a rich agricultural estate by George Townshend and others and named after Elmhurst Manor in London, England. The first post office opened in 1877. The Village had two stores, a blacksmith shop and a livery stable until 1907 when they merged into one store. In 1909, the first school building was built and served as the high school from 1914 to 1922; it burned down in 1951. In 1916-17, Elmhurst became home to the world's largest artificial snowglobe ever made when it was installed at the corner of Oak Street and Wacker Drive as part of Chicago's Christmas decorating program; it still stands today outside City Hall. In 1920-21 (just before World War II), Elmhurst added an all-wooden baseball diamond which remains in use to this day as City Park Stadium (now known as Wrigley Field).

In 1815, Elmhurst was a small village in the County of Cook. It had two churches, oneMethodist and one Presbyterian, and twenty-one residents. In 1848, Elmhurst became a town in the County of Chicago.
