Effingham, Illinois is home to the world’s oldest firearm-manufacturing establishment, and one of the most significant firearms events in American history. On December 14th, 1859, a group of men gathered at the old armory to plant the first firearms in Effingham. The event was important for two reasons: it marked the beginning of an arms race that would see Europe lead America in technology and innovation; and it represented a milestone in Effingham’s history as a community center for gun ownership and training. In recent years, Effingham has become known for its annual Gun Show & Shootathon. Held over Labor Day weekend each year, this event attracts both sport shooters and collectors from around the Midwest. This popular event has helped support local businesses and economy while promoting education about firearms conservation through public access to high-quality rifles and shotguns. In addition to its ceremonial role at Gun Show & Shootathon events, Effingham also hosts numerous Marksmanship Training Events (MTE) throughout the year which teach handgun owners how to shoot accurately with pistols or revolvers. Effingham is a small town in the eastcentral part of Illinois, United States. The population was 7,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Joliet Metropolitan Statistical Area. Effingham is home to American University and Central High School. The Effingham postal code 62601 covers most of the town. The first European settlers in Effingham were Frenchmen who arrived around 1763 and named it "Efremont". A year later, Englishman James Robertson renamed it "Effingham" after his estate in Yorkshire, England. When Illinois became a state in 1818, Effingham was within Racine County; however, when Racine County was dissolved into DuPage County on January 1, 1821*, Effingham became a part of that new county*. In 1836*, Effingham station on Union Pacific Railroad was established as the eastern terminus for that line*. By 1840*, there had been growth here so great that an addition to Union Station called the Park Building had to be built* (later known as Town Hall). In 1902, American Universitywas founded ineffington by Drs Baptiste and White with assistance from President Theodore Roosevelt (*see also: History of American University). American University remains one of the top educational institutions in America today with over 24,000 students enrolled*(40% women) as well as graduate programs including law enforcement and business administration. The Park Building served as both American University's main building and its first female dormitory until 1967 when all male student housing was made available on campus*. There is no one answer to this question, as the history of firearm t-shirts has varied greatly. However, some general points about the development and popularity of these types of shirts are worth noting. First and foremost, T-shirts began to be developed in the early 1800s as a way for Allied servicemen and women to show their support for their countries during World War 1. Additionally, they were often worn as part of military uniform attire. As time passed, however, t-shirts became more popular among civilians as well. They usually served two main purposes: To advertise products or services that the wearer enjoyed or supported, and also as an identifier for certain groups or individuals within society (such as firefighters). As with any type of clothing advertisement or identification, there was always risk associated with using firearms on camera or in public settings. This was especially true whenguns were being used in crime syndicates or against rival gangs. In response to this issue, many manufacturers started producing “peace” pistols – firearms that did not fire live rounds but instead emitted nonlethal projectiles such as BBs (balls) which could incapacitate someone if fired successfully into their face. This type of shirt became known colloquially as a “peace gun” t-shirt. However, even today there are still few instances where firearms are actually displayed openly onT-shirts (although this is slowly changing). Instead most shootings occur behind closed doors where it is more likely that people will be wearing less revealing clothing - including firearm t-shirts!
