In 1915, Edward Eichenwald became president of Sears Roebuck and Company; he donated $100,000 to build a library which still stands today as one of Edwardsville's most important assets. In 1924, William "Billy" Bogan started a grocery store in what is now known as Bogan's Park across from Central High School - this Grocery Store remain open until this day serving local residents as well as visitors alike! Billy also founded Bogan's Pizza which operates today out of their original location next door! In 1969 when Edwardsville had its own fire department three men were chosen from among all incorporated cities in Kane County to serve as chiefs - this event forever helped make Edinburgs community spirit strong! The railroad company went bankrupt in 1872 but its tracks still remain today as parts of I-55 and I-290 near Edwardsville andNormal Heights (now Parkview), respectively. On November 6th 1888 Edward Murtagh Davis was born to Irish immigrantsPatrick Davis and his wife Sarah Jane O'Malley at 4:00 A.M., just south of town on County Road DD2N/22W where he would play an important role later that day when he helped lead an uprising against local school board member James Hickey that ultimately led to victory over Hickey's forces by force; Davis would go on to become one of America's most prominent preachers and political leaders during Reconstruction days following the American Civil War In 1893 Jesse Owens won gold medals at both the Amateur Athletic Union World Championships held in Minneapolis (Uruguay) and then traveled back home to Indianapolis where he gave a public address accepting his award from President Grover Cleveland .
