East St. Louis, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat of Cook County. The first gun target in East St. Louis, Illinois was a blacksmith shop located on the corner of Walnut and Maple Streets. The target was shot at around 1824 by John Goudreau. In 1852, a rifle factory was built on the north side of the river in East St. Louis and began producing rifles for the American market.
