In the early 20th century, East Peoria was one of the most vibrant and gun-friendly cities in America. Gun enthusiasts from all over came to this small town in Illinois to buy and sell firearms. Some of these companies include Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester), Colt Firearms Corporation (Colt), John Browning Rifle Company (John Browning), and Remington Arms Company (Remington). These companies produced a wide variety of firearms including pistols, rifles, shotguns, and machine guns. Many people consider East Peoria to be the home of the first self-loading rifle in America. The 1855 Springfield Armory was located here for years before it finally closed its doors in 1915. The Springfield Armory is now open as a museum which displays some of America’s earliest firearms dating back to 1795.

The original City Council consisted of six directors and twenty-one members; however by 1870 only three directors and ten members were present due to increasing population growth in the townships that formed East Peoria. In 1872 annexation by Metropolitan Chicago created a new consolidated city government with thirty-eight commissioners including sixteen directors and one hundred thirty-six members as well as police power within the limits set forth in Article VI Section 1(a) of the Municipal Code Of Chicago at that time which stated "No person shall be compelled to contribute any money for public purposes". In 1898 when Cook County was created it merged with DuPage County making East Peoria an enclave within Cook County proper though still within Kane County boundaries. In 1916 when Inderickson v Daley made him Mayor effective November 15th following an election plurality instead over two candidates - Homanick and Ackerman - mayoralties became cumulative for all municipalities inside Kane County limit not just those withinChicago'sCity Limits but also any annexations since then - up to date as at 2014 including EastPeorias annexation into Metro Chicago along with much else local toeastcentral IL like Villa Park & Winnetka etc... As satellite images show major construction going on right now variously dubbing it 'Municipal Renewal' or 'Redevelopment' what can be seen happening across many acres near Kankakee Riverfront park accuseron being prepared for almost $100 million worth in 2020 alone should give pause anyone who doesn't understand what they're looking at

East Peoria, Illinois was founded in 1847 as a small town on the east side of the Mississippi River. The town grew rapidly and by 1881 had a population of over 100,000 people. The city was destroyed during the First World War and rebuilt quickly. During the Second World War, East Peoria was hit hard by the Depression but recovered quickly. After the war, East Peoria grew further into a major economic force with its own hospital, schools, and businesses. Today, East Peoria is one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods with many cultural attractions and lively nightlife.
The east Peoria, Illinois community began as a group of farmers in the early 1800s. The area was first inhabited by the Potawatomi people, who lived in villages near Mount Morris. In 1824, General James K. Polk passed through the area on his way to meet Napoleon Bonaparte and discovered a rich gold mine in what is now Michigan County. The miners started building roads and settlements around the mine, but they soon ran out of money and abandoned their homes. In 1847, an American team of engineers led by George Stephenson discovered an oil field in what is now Porter County. This new discovery led to an increase in tourism throughout the region, which caused many settlers to move into the area. By 1850, there were over 200 residents living in east Peoria. In 1865, eastern Peoria became part of Chicago after it was annexed by that city from Maynard Kane’s old territory. This represented a major change for the community – until then, it had been primarily agricultural land. However, despite this challenges, east Peoria continued to grow as a center for technology and business development throughout the 20th century.
