This conversion project involved moving many of the existing furniture and fixtures including some sixty guns (Winchester Model 1892s included) from Camp Butchart to new facilities on Wabash Avenue in Lawndale IL). East Moline is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois, and the county seat of Macon County. The population was 21,584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. East Moline was founded in 1847 by Danish immigrants as a small village on the east side of what is now Macon County. In 1860, East Moline became an incorporated town after it was chosen as the site for a new post office from among several candidates proposed by farmers in that area. In 1871, East Moline voters passed an ordinance making it a city with full powers to levy taxes and make its own decisions without interference from the county government. The city's first mayor was George Hargrave and its first streetlights were turned on in 1907 by Mayor John Wahlstrom (a Democrat). From 1911 until 1920, East Molinians voted for their own Congressman through direct popular election instead of sending representatives to Washington D.C., which then allowed Republicans to majorities in both Congress and at the state level because they controlled all statewide offices except agriculture and transportation (the two major Democrats' strongholds). In 1925, when Macon County merged with Cook County to form Illinois,[1] East Moline lost most of its municipal power but retained its right to vote for their own City Council members until 1974 when this power was transferred back to the county government along with other responsibilities including fire protection and zoning regulations.[2] Consequently, although many people within East Moline refer to themselves as "city dwellers" or "villagers",[3] much of their civic life takes place outside of their downtown core where there are more shopping malls (including one built specifically for residents) than traditional retail stores or services such as banks or libraries

East Moline is a town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Moline was founded in 1836 by Andrew Kapp and his wife Rebecca as a small community on the Mississippian River that became East Moline after Illinois opened its statehood to white settlers in 1847. The name "Moline" may be derived from French word "molière," meaning "a kind of flour cake." In 1850, Kapp donated land for a school, which soon became one of the most popular schools in Illinois due to its quality education and low tuition rates. In 1870, Kapp donated land to create what would become East Moline Township. A large dam was built to provide power for mills and other businesses in the early 20th century; today's village is located within the mill grounds. In 1906, portions of east-central McHenry County were annexed into Cook County; East Moline remained an independent municipality until 1915 when it merged with West Dundee Township (now Bloomington) to form new township government under then-Mayor John Edward Hynes. During World War II, many jobs were created at Navy shipyards along Lake Michigan near Watertown while also being developed as Center Point Naval Supply Depot on North Park Avenue; these activities led to increased development around milepost 9 on I-90 which closed off all access from east-central McHenry County during construction between 1957 and 1959 due to protests by local residents about loss of open space for commercial development adjacent their homes. In 1986, East Moline lost its charter as an unincorporated Village and became an incorporated town under Mayor Dave Lisle with voting rights only for residents who reside within township boundaries As such, no elections are held within both townships but both mayors hold office through their respective villages/townships instead of directly elected by citizens residing within those same boundaries like they do currently. Today's economy revolves around healthcare services provided by Northwestern Health System which operates two hospitals - University Hospital (serving patients from eastern Cook County) and Elmhurst Hospital & Clinics ( serving patients from western Cook County). Additionally there are several smaller companies providing services such as home health care or pet sitting which have grown increasingly popular over recent years given tight budgets across most municipalities throughout IL due to declining populations coupled with increasing accessity thanks to Interstate 90 expansion northward since 2000 code named “The Great LakesIDEA” Additionally retail offerings range from small convenience stores dotting Main Street throughout much of downtown east moline right up until Interstate 90 where there are now numerous high end restaurants catering primarily towards Chicagoans living beyond city limits including some flagship locations just south of I-90 exit 99B known locally as The Loop . There has been significant redevelopment along I-90 recently culminating with multiple projects totaling almost $100 million dollars called “The Corridor” project consisting of a major real estate renovation extending I-90 past Aurora Road all the way down into Will county including new shopping malls (one anchored by Sears), parks (including President George Washington University), hotels/motels (including One World Trade Center), agricultural fields (!), water resources redevelopment complete now allowing more than 1 million people per day(!!) inside Indiana Jones themed IndyCar race track known locally simply as “The Speedway” not too mention McCormick Place Convention Center which houses nearly every big name event in downtown Chicagoland each year – making it easily one of largest entertainment districts outside Chicago!
East Moline was founded in 1836 by the Leavenworth, Kansas Territorial Legislature. The town's first settler, John H. Pritchard, arrived in 1837 and built a log cabin on the east side of the river. In 1840, East Moline developed as a small town with five stores and two churches. By 1851, the population had reached 100 residents and twelve businesses. The town experienced growth through the next few decades until it reached its peak around 1870 when it had twenty-one residents and six businesses. However, during the early years of this century economic development slowed due to competition from neighboring towns such as Rockford and Terre Haute. In 1911, East Moline merged with nearby Terre Haute to form West Moline Township.
