In 1806, General James Kildare moved westward from Canada with his troops following United States President James Ketchum's expedition under cover of darkness to explore Missouri Territory beyond thatados territory line; he discovered that Kildare's discoveries were not true claims made by Great Britain but instead part of what would eventually become Iowa Territory. Kildare returned home before reaching Kansas Territory where he reported his findings back to London via courier service and laid out plans for developing what would become east side Chicago into a major commercial center with railroads linking it to Ontario (now Toronto) and points north while keeping access open to indigenous peoples through treaties signed at Fort Dearborn (present day Milwaukee) in 1814-1815%. On November 3rd, 1882 the Village of East Moline merged with Park Ridge to become one municipality. The area now known as East Moline was first settled by Native Americans in the 1800s. A piece of land that would eventually become eastMoline was given to James Dunham by his brother Aaron for $2 per acre! By 1830 there were over 100 settlers living in what would become eastMoline. One of early pioneers to live and work in this area was John Prentice who built a home on what is now West Side Road near today's State Street and founded the First Presbyterian Church which still stands today! lumbering started here soon after and it continues on to this day! initial economic opportunities were mostly agricultural but with continuing growth came industry as well! what began as small mills soon became some of the largest inland plants in America! In 1916 a group of men from eastMLINE(now known as University City) pooled their money together and bought a large tract of land west side road between State Street and Park Avenue for development into what would be called “the city’s new industrial center” during World War I when many companies moved their operations out-of-state due to wartime rationing! The city hall building which still stands today (from 1915 until 1978) housed all local government services including public schools, fire department, libraries etc before being torn down for apartment buildings shortly after Jane Addams opened her social welfare institute here!! It wasn't until 1984 when construction began on what would be called “the mall” which included restaurants/bars/mallwalk/etc among other features!! This project finally ended up being completed in 1991 but only housing low income tenants until 2008 when they finally received permits to build marketrate apartments!! What followed during those years were some very tough times for both business owners and residents alike; however through perseverance & hard work these communities slowly rebuilt themselves back up again; even making it onto lists such as Forbes Magazine’s list Of1000 Small Towns To Watch For 2009!!
