Dolton is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 596 at the 2010 census. Dolton is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community dates back to 1836 when three Dutch farmers established a log cabin on the present-day site of Dolton. A post office was established in 1847 and by 1860, the village had a population of seventy-six. In 1865, the village became an incorporated municipality and in 1870, it annexed the towns of West Dundee and Mount Prospect. By 1904, Dolton had a population of 2,500. The first knife made in Dolton was a six-inch (15 cm) pocketknife made by Frits Zwart and Company from ferrochrome steel with brass fittings and black leather sheath. It was sold to Wm Wesseling for $2 worth of goods on October 25, 1876. By 1907, there were more than 200 knife manufacturers operating in Joliet Township where Dolton sits. Many entrepreneurs who started knife manufacturing families went on to make their mark as industry leaders such as John Della Vedova who founded La Grange Knife Manufacturing Company which is still extant today; Rudolph Weininger who started Alta Knife Manufacturing Company which produces high quality knives both online and brick-and-mortar stores; Jens Jacobsen who started Jacobsen & Sons Cutlery which has been making fine kitchen knives since 1892; Willis Haskins whose company manufactured sharpening stones for chefs that are still popular today; among others Production increased during World War II because many people were drafted into military service and unable to have access to traditional tools or manufactures such as knives that could be used for cooking or gardening purposes due to rationing policies implemented by the government at that time. However production dwindled after 1945 as demand for knives slowly tapered off during postwar years as technology improved overall

Dolton is a small, unincorporated community in Dixon Township, Grundy County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the east side of Lombard Street south of Interstate 55. Dolton had a population of 542 as of the 2010 census. The first settler in Dolton was Levi Heffner who came overland from Pennsylvania in 1814. He and his family built a cabin on the present site of Dolton in 1818. The land that now includes Dolton was part of what was called Beaver Creek Township until it was organized into Grundy County in 1833. In 1837, John Walford set up a ferry at the mouth of Beaver Creek to facilitate transportation between Duck Valley and Cahokia. A post office was established at Dolton in 1840, and remained so until it closed in 1861. In 1847, Elisha Goodyear moved to Dolton from Michigan with his family and began operating an ice cream business which continued until 1865. Goodyear also raised pigs and cattle here for use by local farmers. In 1870, George Stephenson built the first electric power plant near Joliet, Illinois and brought light to the area with his transformer station; this made Joliet an important economic center during the early 1800s when transportation options were limited by distance and costliness of materials used for electrical generation/ transmission/connection (See Electricity: Edison's Birthplace). During World War II much activity took place at nearby Joliet Arsenal including munitions production; however all operations ceased after1945 due to wartime restrictions on military spending across America DolTON has always been home to many people who have helped make our community what it is today- like Nathan Griggs who owned and operated Griggs Hardware for over 60 years before retiring last year!

Dolton is a small town in the northwest corner of Illinois, United States. It is located on the Sangamon River and has a population of around 1,000 people. Dolton was founded in 1836 by Nicholas Dolton and his wife Rebecca. The town was named for John Dolton, one of the original settlers in this area. Dolton had its start as a farmstead on the banks of the Sangamon River. In 1837, Nicholas Dolton erected a cabin near what is now central Dolton to provide temporary housing for his workers during the construction of the first railroads in this area. The cabin served as both home and workstation until it was destroyed by fire in 1847. In 1850, Nicholas Dolton organized a township association within his own community and began to develop it into an actual town. He donated land to this new municipality and helped to finance its initial infrastructure such as roads, schools, churches, etc. By 1861, there were already over 150 residents living in DolTON! However, things did not always go smoothly for DolTON during its early years – riots often broke out between local farmers and laborers over petty issues such as price differences or unfair competition from other towns downriver! However, through hard work and determination (and occasional intervention from Nicholas’ son John), eventually everything reached a point where prosperity could be enjoyed without any major outbreaks of violence! The late 1800s saw an increase in interest in agriculture throughout Illinois due to increased trade opportunities with neighboring states; however, although prices for agricultural goods steadily rose throughout much of rural Illinois through this time period (kindly supported by government subsidies), dairy farmers continued to operate at some disadvantage relative to other sectoral businesses because they were unable to build up large herds that could be marketed profitably outside their own communities! This situation changed beginning around 1900 when more efficient methods were developed for raising cows on large pastures; however at least some dairy farmers still found ways to produce milk commercially even though their herds had dwindled significantly!. In fact today many farms still maintain significant numbers of cows thanks largely to modern technology which allows these animals too be fenced-in so they can't wander off into adjacent fields
