By 1900 Dolton had over 5200 residents according to USGS data with an agricultural sector making up 16% of GDP while service employment accounted for 56%. In recent years much attention has been focused on Duluth Park across town where amusement park attractions now provide employment for over 1000 people year round along with other retail businesses that have grown adjacent since then; most notably Sears Holdings Corporation’s Kmart store built next door in 1990 on land once occupied by Harry Black & Sons cigar store before that property too became part of Kmart expansion after deregulation during the late 1990s when Sears went bankrupt following its acquisition by Microsoft). According to 2000 census estimates conducted by Illinois State University's Institute on Metropolitan Areas (IMA), populations within 10 miles of Joliet had decreased from 66% of all residents aged 15 years or older living in those areas between 1970 and 2000 to just 33% today – although this decrease may be partially explained by migration away from Joliet into neighboring counties during this time period following economic hard times experienced elsewhere within the state; nonetheless it remains one of the smallest CDP sizes within 25 miles – larger only than Fox Lake (25%) or Peru (24%).
