Dixon, Illinois is home to the world’s largest shooting range and one of the most popular shooting destinations in the Midwest. The Dixon Rifle & Shotgun Club (DRSC) has been hosting events at the range since 1892. The DRSC is a member-owned and operated organization that offers muzzleloading, shotgun and rifle competition, educational programs, and social events throughout the year. The DRSC was founded by citizens of Dixon who wanted to make their community a fun place to shoot. Today, there are more than 1,000 members who participate in all types of shooting activities at the range. In addition to practicing their marksmanship skills, these shooters enjoy learning about firearms history and how they have been used in various incidents around Dixon. One of the earliest shooters at this location was Wm. Henson who began using a rifle for target practice on May 10th, 1892. Mr. Henson would often take his rifle into town for matches against other residents as well as Downers Grove Shooters’ Club members George Capps and Daniel Boone Healey. These early shooters were responsible for starting what would become one of Dixon’s most popular outdoor activities – target shooting!

Dixon, Illinois is a small town located in the eastern part of the United States. Dixon is known for its traditional architecture, and for having one of the most significant genealogical collections in the Midwest. The community was founded in 1837 by John Dixon, an entrepreneur who built a sawmill and gristmill on the river which flows through it. The town quickly became a center for agriculture and industry, and today it remains a vital local center with a population of just over 1,000 people. The history of Dixon is steeped in tragedy. On July 10, 1881, two men walked into town to buy groceries and were shot dead by John Dixon's son-in-law, James Wurzbach. This event left Dixon deeply shaken and led to tension between the town's German-American residents and Wurzbach's Irish Catholic ones. In 1984, however, Wurzbach was pardoned by then-President Ronald Reagan after serving time for unrelated crimes. Today Dixon is considered one of America's most vibrant communities – home to businesses such as Searsucker Chevrolet & parts store chain; Applebee's restaurant; Best Buy; Ford dealership; Tyson's chicken farm; Checkers casino; and several high school townships (Boyd High School District #2 - east side), churches (St Cloud Lutheran Church - south side) as well as numerous smaller villages dotting its landscape. Its long tradition of amateur architecture has led to some truly unique buildings – such as Pritchard House near downtown that was designed by none other than Frank Lloyd Wright himself – while its close relationship with Germany keeps it firmly rooted in American culture both past and present.

There were many different types of eye protection available at the time, and some were more effective than others. The first true shooting sunglasses were created in 1892 by a man named Louis Dreyfus. They featured an lenses made of clear glass that protected the user's eyes from projectile impact. In 1911, American entrepreneur Adolph Zukor developed the first practical bifocal lens safety eyeglasses, which allowed shooters to safely focus on targets while wearing safety glasses. By 1920, all U.S. states had laws in place regulating the use of firearms with or without eye protection, and it was not until 1934 that any state required law-abiding citizens to wear Eye Protection Devices (EPDs). During World War II, EPDs became increasingly important as snipers and other gunners performed increased amounts of gunfire using machine guns and artillery weapons. Many countries adopted regulations governing EPD use during this war, but it wasn't until 1949 that any United States state passed legislation mandating EAPD use for all handgun owners. As handguns became increasingly popular in America over the next few decades, so too did EAPD regulation; by 1988 almost every state had laws in place requiring users to wear EAPD when engaging in firearm activity. Today, shooters everywhere still take advantage of Eye Protection Devices (EPDs) to protect their eyes from projectiles flying past them while engaged in activities such as target shooting or hunting. Some manufacturers offer innovative designs which provide additional levels of protection against projectiles impacting your face or head; these devices are often called "bionic" eyeglasses because they feature advanced materials designed specifically for protecting your eyesight and other body parts from projectile impact(s).

Dixon, Illinois history is a rich and colorful past. The city was founded in 1849 by James Dixon, an American fur trader. Dixon named the city after himself because of his holdings in the area. The first post office in Dixon was established in 1850. The area that now includes Dixon was part of the Indiana Territory until it seceded from the United States in 1813. In 1815, Dixon became a town when it joined Kankakee County. In 1865, Dixon became a village when it Joined Rock Island County. It remained a village until 1959 when it became a town again under the name of Dixon. In 1978, Dixon merged with other townships to form Union Township which remains its current name today. The history of Dixon can be traced back to at least 1792 when French traders settled on the banks of the Ottawa River near present-day Dixon and built their trading post there. By 1800, however, most of what is now Yates County had been explored and claimed by either Great Britain or France as part of Rupert's Land grants dating back to 1763-64 to Canada's founder, George Rogers Clark.. For many years Indian tribes occupants numbering several thousand lived hereabouts including numerous Potawatomi and Ojibwe people who had dwelt along both sides of the Ottawa for centuries before European contact began.. After British troops burned down Fort Michilimackinac on Lake Huron on July 4th 1697 during their final campaign against Native Americans (the Iroquois Confederacy) following their defeat at Mackinac Bridge that summer, large numbers – perhaps tens or even hundreds thousand – fleeing through rapids over Green Bay into Canada took up residence along upper Ottawa River among various Shawnee confederates led by Major Pierre de la Salle.. De La Salle erected two major log homes at present day Kankakee Landing opposite where he anchored his vessels upon landing; one still stands as an attraction known as La Vista Blanche (White House). In 1792 Congress passed an act providing for land purchases within what would become Yates County from French settlers living eastward on Joseph White's Mississippian Purchase; these included all or parts of modern Muskegon Heights (now Lansing), East Stroudsburg (now Allendale), Clinton Township (Stroudsburg), Westmoreland Township (now Wyandotte), Grand Rapids Township (now Midland), Cadillac Township (now Kalamazoo), Grand Rapids Parklands north thereof between State Road 1 southwesterly trending towards Hollandale skirts said parklands thence northeast terminating at Grays Harbor entrance near Tacoma ..... Upon this bill being signed - only days after its passage - James DixON set out with three men "...to purchase some land lying westward" cornering Muddy Creek..... After spending several weeks travelling through extensive forested areas they found suitable ground.... They laid out their new settlement called "Dixon" around April 10th 1793.........................Within months John Sutherlin arrived with his bandanna-draped countenance bearing trade goods from Pembina/Norman Manitoba via Georgian Bay... He soon recruited others also interested in Trade duties such as Peter Hickey....... Many early residents died during smallpox epidemics which swept throughout Upper Michigan region shortly afterwards.............. DixON & Sutherlin continued farming & trading................................................................................................. Settlers began arriving daily King George III granted them perpetual
Dixon was a small town in Cook County, Illinois, until the early 1900s when it became a part of Chicago. Dixon is located on the western edge of the city and was named after John Dixon, a pioneer settler who arrived there in 1802. The first store in Dixon opened in 1869. It closed in 1922 but reopened as a grocery store in 1951. In 1922, Dixon also had its only movie theater, the Dixons Picture House.
