This allowed armies such as England to victory over France during the Hundred Years War (Haigh 2017a). In 1836, John Browning patented his first revolver which he called “The Pistolero”. He designed this weapon as a way for law enforcement officers to deal with then outlaws who had become active on American soil (Haigh 2017b). After 9/11/, many Americans began looking into ways to protect themselves from potential terrorist attacks including the purchase of firearms (Galloway 2019). As terrorism became more prevalent in recent years, so too did concerns about gun rights advocates attempting to disarm civilians.
