In 1938, the company merged with Armoury Supply Company to form Armoury-Dixon Corporation. The company continued to produce firearms and accessories until it ceased operations in 1984. During its heyday, Dixon Firearms & Ammunition was one of the largest firearms manufacturers in the United States. The company produced a wide variety of arms including rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammunition, and more. Today, the company’s legacy still resides within the community through its numerous contributions to local charities and events.

Dixon is a town in Johnson County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,747 at the 2010 census. Dixon was founded in 1871 and named for General James Dixon, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as an Army general during the American Civil War. Dixon was incorporated as a village in 1907. The community of Dixon grew rapidly following World War II when local businesses created jobs in both defense and production sectors. Since then, it has experienced steady growth with more than two hundred new residents moving to the town each year since 2000. The original settlers were farmers who arrived from Kentucky around 1827. They built small log cabins near what is now downtown Dixon and began trading goods they produced with Native Americans along the Shawnee Trail that ran through central Illinois. By 1840, the settlers had built larger homes and started to grow crops such as corn, beans, potatoes, wheat and tobacco. In 1871, General James Dixon led an army against Mexico in order to end their war with that country; he became famous for his victory at Buena Vista Hill which ended Mexican rule over Texas and Arizona. After the war ended, General James Dixon decided to name his new settlement after him – Davisville – in honor of his fallen comrades who had died during the war or while serving elsewhere within the Union army. Growth continued until 1907 when territorial boundaries were finalized following America's entry into World War I – including Johnson County – making Dixon part of newly created Chicago Territory (later Chicago). Businesses exported products made outside of North America but this prosperity declined during World War II due to wartime shortages of materials like aluminum cans and gasoline tanks because of rationing by Roosevelt’s New Deal Coalition government; however local farms did continue producing food items like potatoes (paprika), eggs (chicken livers), onions (onion greens) and bacon (bacon chives). Once hostilities ceased on September 2nd 1945 everyone returned home except for a few soldiers/military families assigned to garrison duty at Camp Douglas south of town; these troops would remain until 1949 when their military base closed down due to budget cuts called “The Great D-Day Campaign” by Harry S Truman under President Dwight Eisenhower concurrent with increasing communist influence within post-war America known as The Cold War era]. In 1950–1951 some Disco lights went out on Main Street between 3rd Avenue East & 4th Avenue West leading people believe it may have been caused by a Vandals hit rock Crusaders playing live music nightlife entertainment center before getting back up again about 10pm after about an hour’s break dancing kids running around scene #2 one car broken window so repairable open 9am morning found beer can still sitting on seat inside lobby building next door no damage done
Dixon was founded on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1836 by John Dixon and his brother, Isaac. The town's first post office opened in 1840. In 1848, Dixon became a county seat and began to grow as an agricultural center. The population increased rapidly after the construction of the Illinois Central Railroad in 1857, which made Dixon one of the wealthiest towns in Illinois. In 1870, Dixon incorporated as a city and grew rapidly into a major economic center for central Illinois. In 1916, Dixon was named one of the "Ten Towns That Made America" by Reader's Digest magazine.
