The history of airguns goes back to the 1860s when firearms enthusiasts in Deerfield, Illinois began to experiment with using air guns for shooting sport. In 1871, the first magazine-fed airgun was created by John W. Brownell and his son John R. Brownell at a local gunsmith shop in Deerfield. The Browns used a small quantity of compressed gas to power an ice-cold metal piston that shot balls into the air. This early form of airgun use helped make airguns an increasing favorite among shooters around the country. In 1892, John Mazzini developed a new type of airgun known as the "Mazzini Rifle." This weapon featured a chamber that could hold up to six rounds of ammunition and used compressed gas to shoot balls into the air. With this innovation, Mazzini helped give rise to what is now known as indoor target shooting (ITS). It was through ITS that many people discovered how fun and easy it is to shoot small targets indoors without having to go outside or risk injury or death from outdoor gunfire. By 1907, all major types of commercial rifles had been standardized and classified under various names such as " pump action" and " automatic." Airguns were still being made by hand but they were becoming less common as pistols became more popular. As pistol hunting transitioned away from open country deer hunting into closed quarters where only certain types of firearms could be possessed, shotguns became increasingly important for defense reasons. Consequently, Hand Gun Ordinance No.(HGO) 810 Ch 8 recommended in 1935 that all rifle owners must obtain a shotgun license before owning any handgun other than revolvers which were limited to sporting purposes only

Deerfield, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,824 as of the 2010 census. The first people to live in Deerfield were the Potawatomi Tribes. The first settler in what is now Deerfield was John Beal who arrived on horseback from Indiana on November 1, 1814. The original plat for Deerfield listed 30 lots with an acreage each for $5 per lot payable within four years or face seizure by the government if not paid back plus interest at 6%. In 1853, Judge John Haggerty built a cabin near what is now Elk Grove Village on land donated by Benjamin Forney and others who had leased land from DeKalb County for growth north of their county line. A school house was Built there in 1854 and known as “Haggerty” until it burned down in 1865 during Union raids against Fort Dearborn; this event has been commemorated annually with a free open air festival known as “Haggerty” Days since then which takes place at various locations around town over Memorial Day weekend. In 1868–69 David Whitcomb started farming here and soon began growing corn and wheat which became local crops grown side by side with other vegetables such as beans ( later developed into field peas), potatoes etc., until market demand changed over time to produce more beef cattle than corn alone could provide soWhitcomb turned his attention to hog raising becoming one of only a few farmers east of Chicago still doing this type operations up through World War II when refrigeration became available providing an economical alternative to shipping animals across country on freight trains In 1907 he sold all hog operation excepting breeding stock to J C Whitney who renamed him Whitney Organization Limited having bought out most all other investors including David Whitcomb himself . By 1925 Whitney controlled about 60% of all Hog production east of Chicago . Corn production stopped entirely during World War II as Enclosed Air Raid Protection destroyed most barns but some acres were planted back up using modern technology due to later discoveries Following World War II chickens replaced hogs as our primary meat source while pork production continued until current day However cheese continues to be produced here mostly from milk products although some whey products are made including Boursin cheese

Despite this stagnation, deerfield has faced several challenges over the years such as becomingfrontier town status due to its location on state road 54 which led to increased competition for jobs from other towns closer to Chicago; however, this designation was eventually revoked by the state government because it did not meet certain standards set forth by that agency. Today deerfield remains an attractive place to live with its traditionalsmalltown atmosphere and diversityof businesses including banks (four), churches (nine), grocery stores (five), restaurants (seven) and two hospitals (one).
