The club was disbanded in 1899, but re-formed in 1907 as the rifle and pistol club of the Illinois State Rifle Association. In 1916, the club became a part of the National Rifle Association. Decatur is a small, unassuming town in the Illinois Country region of the United States. It is located about 20 miles (32 km) north of the city of Chicago and 10 miles (16 km) east of the city of Springfield. The population was 24,569 at the 2010 census. According to the 2009 census Decatur had 7,853 housing units and an average density of 556.5 people per square mile (221.7/km²). The land that makes up Decatur was first settled by Europeans in 1810 as part of what is now Lake County. The area was part of Wabash County until it was split off from Illinois in 1837 and incorporated into Decatur Township. In 1847,Decatur became one of two townships in Cook County when Rock Island and Menard were combined into that county. At its peak, Decatur had a population of around 100 people and a post office serving only residents within its own town limits. Today, most businesses are located outside the town boundaries; however, there are still a few residents who live within its walls for work or pleasure purposes. The history of Decatur can be traced back to 1810 when European settlers arrived in what is now Lake County looking for a new home after being forced out of their previous homes by Native American tribes. christopher columbus discovered what would become known as Michigan Territory on October 14th 1795 while conducting his exploration along the Great Lakes region—the first European to find North America’s largest body water since Columbus discovered America’s New World over two centuries earlier! Afterward, fur traders followed Columbuss discoveries throughout much of Northwestern North America including what is now Illinois where they established trading posts along the Mississippi River which served as crossroads between eastern trade with Europe and westward travel across central Canada to reach California via waypoints such as St Louis and Memphis! In December 1817 DeKalb called for bids for lands that lay between Rock Island and Grayslake Rivers just south-central Cook County! A group led by George Stephenson won this bid – thusIn January 1800 Stephenson announced plans for “A Road from Buffalo to Chicago” – later Streetsburg Road! When construction began on this road in 1800 Work stopped due to lack funding but resumed soon enough following Andrew Jacksons victory over John Adams during the presidential election campaign!!! In 1802 Indiana Territory was created comprising all present day Cook County except those portions lying near Rock Island so “Indiana Territory Rd” took on new meaning!! On November 1st 1830 Adam Clayton Powell Jr., who would go on to become United States Senator from New York City died at age 25 after an illness at home while under treatment at Mt Vernon Hospital!!! His widow Sarah received US $3 million inheritance upon her death!!!! After Adams victory he appointed Isaac Newton Mitchell–Kendall Collector General For Indians Affairs!!!!! However many questions remain about this event both contemporaneous with his death & long after he likely passed away ??? The progress made by early Americans during these years not only built our nation but also inspired others throughout time including future Presidents Abraham Lincoln & James K Polk !! These days we enjoy beautiful views overlooking downtown & wonderful shopping opportunities available right next door !!! Decatur, Illinois is a small town located in Decatur County, Illinois. The population was 3,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Decatur" comes from the French word "decouverte" meaning discovered or made known. The town was founded on November 12, 1836 by John A. Decatur and his brothers Elijah and Isaac Newton Decatur. The first store was built on Main Street in 1840. In 1846, the first canal was dug through this town to bring water from the river to local residents and businesses. The two most important events that happened in Decatur are its incorporation as a village on February 15, 1907 and its becoming a city on May 7 of that year. In 1990s there were several protests against high levels of crime in inner-city areas across America which led to changes in municipal government throughout America, including changes in how police officers are hired and paid and control over Arriaga Avenue where many high-crime areas occur today due to policies implemented by Mayor Richard Mabus (D) during his time as mayor of Chicago
On December 2, 1818, Decatur was named in honor of General George Washington. The community was founded by the Illinois Company and was located near the confluence of the Des Plaines River and the Chicago River. On November 7, 1836, Decatur became a city. On July 17, 1860, it lost its charter to become an incorporated village.
