Pershing who played key roles leading American forces into battle at Normandy and Patton’s Operation Market Garden south of Rotterdam

However, because of its strategic location at one of two major highways connecting Chicago with western states (the Erie Canal) and its rich history, Darien has continued to be an important cultural hub in eastern Illinois ever since.
