In 2002–2003,Danville saw some negative aspects with increasing crime rates which had impact on economic development within downtown areas such as North Park Street & 20th Avenue SE., where shootings were reported weekly until 2008 when police began arresting offenders based on new anti-crime guidelines that focused specifically on reducing gun violence in inner-city neighborhoods across Cook County. Efforts by Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration have since led to an increase in law enforcement presence along North Park Street & 20th Avenue SE., where shootings have decreased over time from weekly occurrences down to 1 per year without any notable decrease in crime rates or effect on economic development. This change can be attributed largely to changes made by Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy who implemented stricter guidelines aimed at reducing gun violence instead of just prosecuting offenders based off old cases that may no longer reflect current trends or practices safe for pedestrians and businesses located along these streetside intersections

After the war, Danville experienced rapid growth as a result of new manufacturing and agricultural businesses being established in its vicinity. Today, Danville is one of the most vibrant communities in Central Illinois. The history of Danville begins with General Simon Cameron's arrival in 1839. He came from an old Scottish family that had settled near present-day St Louis, Missouri. General Cameron decided to settle in what is now southern Illinois after seeing extensive preparations being made by Ulysses S. Grant for an invasion of Mexico City at that time. In his memoirs, Grant wrote: "I went through Chicago...and found a great many people going into Danielvilles (sic) making ready to resist Federals if they should come; but I saw no evidence that any hostile purpose existed." In early 1840, General Cameron hired Labadie & Company to build him a mill on the confluence of two creeks called White Flint Creek and Blackwater Creek near present-day Southport Township on eastern Hardin County land then part of Carroll County (now northern Boone County). The mill commenced operations on March 11th 1840 with 10 workers and produced flour until 1862 when it was converted into a steam engine power plant producing paper products such as newsprint and adhesive tape until 1984 when it closed down due to technical problems with the engine days later becoming an abandoned property once again open to public access Later that year General Cameron married Elizabeth Ritchie who was also from Scotland and they moved eastward along with their families into what is now south central Illinois where they started several potato growing ventures before moving back westward into Hardin County again around 1850 or so where they built another mill known as The Ridge Mill which produced flour until 1861 when it too became a steam engine powerplant producing paper products such as newsprint and adhesive tape After 15 years practicing law full-time he retired from practice in 1875 only to return 2 years later after Congress passed legislation mandating compulsory retirement age for attorneys So he lived out his final days living alone upstairs at his home on Third Street just outside town Limits
