After annexation, the community's name changed again to CrystalLake but it reverted back to Burr Ridge in 1934 due to lack of recognition by other municipalities within Kane County until 1959 when both villages were status quo municipalities with their own police department and school districts The village has always been home to one high school: Kankakee Central High School which opened in 1922 CrystalLake also maintains two public libraries: one downtown and one on North Elmhurst Road northeast corner just south of I-88 exit 12A(I-290)
