In 1912, after the death of George Westervelt, his brother Harry took over management of the farm and began to build an addition to the original log cabin which became known as Mrs. Westervelt's House (later renamed Mr. Westervelt House). In 1943, when crest wood was annexed by Butler County, Mrs. Westervelt's House was moved to its present location within town limits and became part of Crestwood Elementary School until it closed in 1984 due to budget cuts.
