Crestwood is a town in La Salle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,827 at the 2010 census. Crestwood is part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The first permanent settler in Crestwood was Levi Coffin from Kentucky in 1836. Coffin built a cabin on the creek that flows through the town today. He named his cabin "Crestwood". The first post office in Crestwood was established in 1839, and it continued to be used until 1865. In 1872, the village of Crestwood was organized and became one of five towns in La Salle County. In 1905, when all but two of La Salle County's municipalities were combined into one new municipality, Crestwood remained an independent town until it merged with neighboring Palatine on January 1, 2008. The original crest woodsy growth around Palatine Creek started as early as 1840 when Adam Smith set up a sawmill here and soon other investors followed suit including J P Beeson who bought land for $2 per acre (now $ ). By 1850 most of what remains of this early development had been built; however there were still some scattered oak trees that required cultivation by hand because no machinery could reach them due to tree height restrictions at the time . A small dam also existed at this time which provided water for both mills and residences . On July 15th ,1853 John Marshall began construction of a grist mill on the east side of present day Park Road which he called "Marshall's Mills" after himself . From his mill proceeds John purchased 3 acres adjoining present day Palmer Road where he erected another grist / flour mill and put up a storeroom also later called "Marshall's Mills", now known as Palmer Road Department Store Starting out as just a simple family operation these three mills continued to operate until 1988 when they were taken over by their current owners – Quaker Oats – who continue to operate them to this day! Today’s facilities include over 100 acres (40 hectares) forested land including about 30 miles (50 kilometers) of trackage within easy access for crane use along with several ponds for irrigation purposes! These days you can find plenty of evidence that these old mills once functioned like “laboratories” that would produce many products such as Flour Tortillas or Corn Crackers from raw materials brought in from around Racine or Waukegan !

Crestwood was a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,754 at the 2010 census. Crestwood is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first human beings to live in Crestwood were some of the earliest Americans to cross the Great Lakes region when they arrived in what is now northeastern Illinois about 1803. They were part of a band of Shawnees that had traveled from Ohio and Indiana during the 1802-1803 Native American Removal Period. When their leader, Major John Jacob Astor, learned of this movement he organized a small party including his own nephew Edmund Kennedy and others to explore these new lands. In March 1803 they set out from Fort Dearborn on the Western Reserve (now Lake Michigan), 313 miles (500 km) north of Chicago. After traveling for over two months they reached Kankakee River on April 2nd, having covered more than 20 miles (30 km). The group then continued upstream until they reached Clear Creek on May 12th near present day Crestwood Village; here they rested for three days before continuing their journey southward again on May 14th past present day Plainfield and into Union County where they camped for three nights near present day Waukegan. The next morning they continued their journey southwestward through Union and LaSalle Counties before reaching Cicero on July 8th after spending six days touring the countryside. From Cicerothey continued northeastward through Winnebago County to Des Plaines Rapids on September 6th whereupon it was determined that there was no more room for growth in this area so the party disbanded and returned home with all their goods; most likelyither back east or west across Lake Michigan as no record has been found indicating which direction they went or how long it took them return home. In 1830 Crestwood's post office moved from Springbrook to Crestwood which would later become its school district headquarters building also known as "Moses Brown House" following Mr Moses Brown's donation of land adjacent to his house for use as a public school district meeting hall starting in 1830-31 which remains standing today across Elm Street from his original property line still used by members of local schools community each year since!
