When Crestwood was first settled in the 18th century, it was a small town of about 350 people. The guns that were used to protect the citizens and property were most likely homemade pistols or muskets. In 1854, the United States Congress passed a bill called the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution which reads as follows: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." The amendment continued to be relevant throughout American history because it guaranteed gun owners their right to bear arms. This right has been protected by law since 1791 when Congress passed an act called the Alien and Sedition Acts which criminalized peaceful political agitation. In 1949, Illinois became one of 36 states within the United States that ratified the Gun Control Act of 1968 which amended section 922(a) of Title 18 U.S.C., commonly known as “the Gun Control Act” (GCA). Under this law, all handguns must be registered with state police before they are allowed on public roads or in any public place such as schools. Since then, Crestwood has seen some significant changes around its gun laws including passage of new regulations in 2016 following December's mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that left 17 dead and many more injured. These changes followed incidents such as last year's death of a local sheriff’s deputy from gunshot wounds after leading an armored car unit into an ambush during a routine traffic stop in Crestwood

Crestwood is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2000 census. The Crestwood community is located in the northwest corner of the county. It is bordered by Valparaiso to the north and east, Carbondale to the south and west, and Paris to the northwest. The first settlers in Crestwood were French Canadians who arrived from Quebec in 1814. In 1835, a group of Germans settled near present-day Crestwood; they founded what would become Carbondale. A few years later, other European immigrants also moved into Crestwood; these include Irish Catholics and Swedes. Today, there are no any Native Americans living in Crestwood. The first school in Crestwood was built on land that now houses the offices of Township Clerk and Tax Collector. The pioneer school teacher taught students up until 1865 when a better school was erected on lot #5 which still stands today as part of township hall." "In 1865, a group of citizens of Carbondale formed a local club to improve transportation within their village by purchasing two horses for use as coaches on their morning walks through town." "This club soon became known as 'The Riders' because they roamed throughout town offering rides home from local farms or visiting friends."

Crestwood is a small town in the northwestern corner of Illinois, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1839 by Elijah Crestwood and his wife Rachelle (née Hinkle). Crestwood grew rapidly due to its location on the banks of the Chicago River, which made it an important transportation and trade center during the early 1840s. In 1846, Elijah Crestwood donated land to make way for a public schools system in what is now Crestwood. In 1847, Elijah Crestwood's daughter-in-law Fanny married John Cornish, son of Commodore John Cornish of trading ship "Natchez". The couple moved to Crestwood and started a family. In 1850, Fanny gave birth to their first child, Samuel Cornish. Samuel became one of the most prominent citizens of Crestwood and served as mayor from 1870 until his death in 1889. He also founded the first independent school in Illinois – North Side Academy – which remains open today as one of Chicagoland's top private schools. During this time period, other businesses soon followed suit: a grocery store opened in 1851 by Aimee Bednarik; a mill became operational in 1865; and dance halls were built around 1915 and 1920 respectively. With such rapid growth came social disruption; residents clashed over religion (particularly Catholicism), education reform (specifically through charter schools), development initiatives (such as an express train service from downtown Chicago to Crestwoods shops), politics (especially between Elijah crestwodt's descendants who had control over many aspects of town government), sex chromosome mapping ordinances passed during World War II (the townsfolk objected because they believed that this would lead to more interracial dating among their own residents), zoning laws adopted after Prohibition ended (to prevent liquor sales near religious sites like churches) – all while maintaining close ties with their respective families back home in Chicago Heights or North Side Manor. Despite these challenges and controversies, many talented individuals attracted to nearby Waukegan or Oak Lawn developed successful businesses here including entrepreneurs Abraham Lincoln Carpenters & Joiners(1898-1952) Irene Rheingold(1920-2006) Garment Workers International Union Local 8888(1936-present)and Harold Ickes(1945-present). Racial tensions did not disappear completely however; white supremacists held rallies throughout much of suburban Cook County during at least two major incidents that year: May 15th when 100 people showed up at Elmhurst High School wearing Confederate uniforms outside local TV news show sponsor General Motors headquarters[1]and October 12th when 200 white supremacists arrived at McCormick Place,[2] chanting “We are all Americans!” while marching down State Street towards DuPage Avenue
Crestwood was founded by John and Anna Crestwood in 1814. They started a small farm near where the present-day Crestwood Stadium is located. In 1868, Anna died and John moved the farm to what is now Crestwood Township. He also built the first school in Crestwood.
