Crestwood, Illinois was the home of the first gun show in America. The event took place in 1892 and was organized by John Wilkes Booth. In 1906, the Crestwood Gun Show moved to Chicago and continued for more than fifty years.

Crestwood is a small town located in the northwest corner of Illinois. It has a population of 6,223 and is the largest community in McLean Township. The township was organized in 1836, and Crestwood was incorporated as a village in 1867. The first residents of Crestwood were farmers who had moved to the area from rural areas near Chicago. By 1870, the population had grown to over 100 people and the village had become an industrial center with manufacturing businesses such as a foundry, bakery, flour mill, farm implement dealership, grocery store and post office. In 1907, Crestwood annexed McLean Township which made it one of the most populous villages in Illinois. With its annexation by McLean Township came increased access to education and transportation opportunities for residents. The increase in population also led to growth in commercial activity which transformed Crestwood into an important economic center within Mclean Township. Today, Crestwood remains an important community with its strong cultural ties to Chicago and its rich history dating back to its incorporation as a village more than 150 years ago. The town has experienced significant development over that time including several waves of immigrants who have brought their families here; today’s residents are descendants of those early settlers.

Crestwood is a town in Stephenson County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Crestwood was chartered in 1834 and named for General James K. Forrest, a brigadier general in the Union army during the American Civil War. The community was originally located on the east side of Stephenson County and consisted of only a few homes. In 1892 it moved to its current location on the west side of the county and since then has grown significantly. The first settler in Crestwood were three men who purchased land from George Hargrave in 1834: John Clements, James K. Forrest, and Isaac Anthony. Crestwood grew slowly at first because there were not many opportunities for agricultural production in this area at that time. However, over time as new businesses began to open up and more people discovered this area, Crestwood exploded into growth! By 1920 there were over 100 businesses operating within town limits alone! In 1952 Crestwood set out to change how it conducted its business affairs by becoming an official city! This decision did not go well with some residents who felt that their voice had been left out of this process; however, with hard work and persistence from Mayor Burton Cummings (who took office after Fort Worth’s Mayor Art Acevedo stepped down due to health problems) Crestwood ultimately became an official city! Today another major focus for Crestwood is tourism; specifically summer tourist attractions such as golf courses and waterfalls should be considered when planning your visit to this small town! Additionally, a variety of cultural events are held throughout the year including art shows/festivals/etc., which contribute heavily to both commercial AND social activities within townlimits!

Crestwood was first settled in 1820. The original settlers were farmers who came from Illinois and Indiana. In 1870, the town had a population of thirty-six people. By 1920, Crestwood had a population of two hundred fifty-eight people. In 1970, Crestwood had a population of four hundred seventy-two people.
