Crest Hill is a small town in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. The population was 9,623 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Elgin (CHI) metropolitan area. The Crest Hill Rifle Club was founded in 1892 by three men from Crest Hill: James M. Gibson, John Auld and Orville Wright. The first rifle club meeting took place on October 15th, 1892. In 1914, the club started to print its own magazine called "The Crest Hill Rifleman". In 1925, the crest hill rifleclub changed its name to "Crest Hill Pistol Club" and began making their own pistols out of steel and brass with black plastic grips until 1951 when they switched to stainless steel handguns which still use plastic grips today! A new clubhouse was built in 1959 which remains in use today as the clubhouse for both the pistol club and school district library!

Crest Hill, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 6,898 at the 2000 census. Crest Hill is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is located east of Chicago on the Fox River and north of Joliet on State Road 22. The name "CrestHill" may derive from two early settler families: The Kents and the Cushings. Crest Hill was originally called "Graceville." In 1837, John Davenport purchased of land in what is now Crest Hill from the Cahokia Mound people. Davenport named his new community after Mount Grace in Scotland – one of three British towns that he founded in North America. Davenport's grandson Samuel Gridley Davenport became president of Duquesne University and donated land to create what are now four quadrants of campus across six blocks west of his father's home on Wabash Avenue inDuquesne Park (now Wabash Ave./State Rd 222). This initial donation set off a period during which Duquesne built some of the most significant buildings on campus: Grady Hall (1905), Eliot Hall (1916), Skidmore Hall (1927), Smith-Mundt House (1963) and Woodrow Wilson Quadrangle (1974). In 1916, following World War I, President Woodrow Wilson gave an address at Grady Hall titled “A New American Century” whichcalled for more education for all citizens including access to higher education for those who could not otherwise afford it; this speech helped spur further development at Duquesne University by creating opportunities for students from all social backgrounds to study at oneof Pennsylvania's largest universities. By 1927, duPont de Nemours had acquired majority interest in duPont de Nemours & Company and so Grady Hall became duPont de Nemours & Company Pavilion; however due to budget cuts within du Pont de Nemours & Company later that decade it was renamed Skidmore Halls as part of a general trend towards consolidation within national corporations throughout the 1930s.;Skidmore Halls remained an important educational facility through World War II when it served as headquarters for Naval Intelligence gathering activities during WorldWar II under Generalissimo Francisco Franco’s Spanish government.–In 1963 President John F Kennedy dedicated Eisenhower Executive Office Building#2 – also known as Grove City Library with its attached garage - toDuPont employees who had labored there during earlier years while IDEB functioned primarily as a research center affiliated with US Army Ballistic Missile Command.. In 1974 IDEB moved into its current facilities adjacent to Stagg Fieldhouse after being vacated by DU Pont after their acquisition by JVC Incorporated.-Today Crest Hill offers residents easy access to world-renowned schools such as Northwestern Polytechnical Institute-University Of Technology and Illinois Institute Of Technology-which offer excellent programs leading upto postsecondary degrees such as engineering or medical technology., several smaller businesses have been established along State Road 22 including The Paper Shop which sells newspapers and Pest Control Center which provides pest control services

In 1847, when Illinois became a state, Crest Hill became one of its several townships within Cook County. In 1872, it incorporated as a village under the name of "Cresthill." The name was changed back to "Cresthill" in 1978 when it joined the city of Chicago as part of its annexation into that city. Today's Crest Hill is composed largely of single-family homes dating back to the early 1800s with some grander structures dating back even further (such as Park Avenue Manor). The Village green contains several churches and other community buildings which date back to earlier days; these include the Methodist Church (founded c 1830), Holy Cross Catholic church (founded 1840), and First Baptist church (founded 1870). It has also been home to several high-end boutiques over the years such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus
