By 1865, many new homes had been built around what are today downtown streets including Main Street between First Avenue and Washington Street; State Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue; Jackson Boulevard between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue; Elmira Road east of State Street; Appleton Road north of Elmira Road; Alderney Road west of AlderneyRoad). On November 9th 1865, when Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, most residents voted 3 to 1 to reincorporate into Cook County since they were living outside Cook County then (Cook County was organized on February 14th 1867). In 1893: The world's largest cotton gin began operations in Collinsville with an output that could have filled three railroad cars! This gin would go on to be called "The Cotton Gin Company" until it merged with two other companies in 1912 to become American Weighing & Fitting Company Incorporated! In 1907: The first electric streetcar service begins running through town providing transportation for locals and tourists alike!
