Collinsville was incorporated as a village on November 3, 1906, by Ordinance No. 9453 passed by the McLean County Board of Education; it merged with neighboring Cairo on December 1, 1907 to form one larger municipality with a population of 4,522 residents according to the 1910 census data available through that year's census records."
