The Chicago Ridge Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club began meeting at the home of John Fenton. Mr. Fenton was a miller who also owned a rifle range in the town of Mount Prospect. In 1894, the first rifles were brought in to the club by George Prentice, then president of the American Rifle Association (ARA). In 1895, Charles Goodyear became president of ARA and changed its name to National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). The NSSF organized competitive shooting events which took place at various locations around the United States. One such event was held at Chicago Ridge where 30 prizes were given out for rifle and pistol competitions. In 1897, George Peake became President of NSSF and changed its name again to International Shooting Union (ISA). The ISA organized World Small Arms Championships which took place in Vienna, Austria in 1898. At this event, 20 countries participated with over 100 weapons being exhibited. In 1902, Chauncey Gardner became President of IUSA and changed its name yet again to Olympic Shooting Federation (OSF). This organization organized world championships for small arms competition which took place every four years from 1908-1912 inclusive. These championships featured some of the most famous athletes from around the globe including Adolf Hitler, Willis Hawley and Jack Johnson Sr.. For many years after these championships ceased taking place due to World War II; OSF continued to operate as an international federation with member associations located all over the world

Cox; it remained an unincorporated community until 1974 when it became part of the City of Chicago. In recent years, Chicago Ridge has undergone several changes: most notably, its population has decreased as a result of suburban development around it; however, there are still some active businesses and residents who maintain strong connections with their former stomping ground. These devices had lenses made out of metal that could be rotated so that they blocked almost all light coming into your eyes; this gave you complete darkness while you were firing your weapon. Although these days no such device exists on Earth that provides such complete privacy, they did play an important role back then and may still do so today if used correctly!
