Chicago Ridge is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,651 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village of Chicago Ridge was organized on February 15, 1871. The first post office in the village was opened in 1872. The name of the original village had been derived from a ridge running along the north side of Lake Michigan and stretching to what is now Cicero Township on the south side. On July 1, 1889, Chicago Ridge emerged as an independent municipality when it merged with neighboring townships of Addison and Westchester to form a new city called Chicago Ridge-Addison Township. On November 16, 1893, after more than two years of wrangling over boundaries between its citizens and those in neighboring townships—and despite claims by some residents that their township would be harmed if the merged community Lloyd went ahead with plans for annexation by the larger city—the City Council voted 8-1 to annex Chicago Ridge into Lloyd. That vote marked an end to one of Chicagos most intense controversies ever over boundaries between municipalities and villages within them: This issue would come to be known as "The Great Lakes Villages Controversy." It took until 1897 for all but a few thousand people living in what became City Ridge (now suburban Wicker Park) to leave their homes behind when they were annexed into Lloyd; almost everyone else moved into newly created housing developments built near Northwestern University or other major employers located within walking distance or bicycle ride from their homes. In 1912–13 there was another round of boundary changes when Addison Township seceded from Chicago Ridge due to disagreements about zoning laws; however this time only a tiny fraction of residents left for good (most likely because there wasn't enough new development available). In 1922 additional territory gained around present day South Shore Drive when Cicero Township seceded from City Ridge following similar disagreements about zoning laws; however this time most residents chose not to move because there were no major employer clusters nearby that offered tax breaks or other inducements for relocation. In 1937–38 groundbreaking began on what would become OneAmerica Plaza Shopping Center which anchored downtownsranteople's shopping district east of State Street along Lake Shore Drive before becoming home also to Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney Inc., Macy's Inc., Kmart Inc., Ford Motor Company and many others during its heyday as one America's largest retail complexes (it closed in 1993). Overall enrollment at Northwestern University rose from 3,500 students in 1900–01 to 30,000 by 1970 while downtown business activity declined precipitously; although some buildings continued up until recently (such as Bormann Tower), much total commercial real estate have been replaced by high-end housing developments dating back onlyto the late 1990s/early 2000s era characterized by increased foot traffic and overall economic growth throughout Cook County outside Loopankveldt Village

Chicago Ridge is a small, rural community located in Kane County, Illinois. It is bounded on the north by State Route 10 and on the east by Chicago Avenue. The community covers an area of just over two square miles. As of the 2010 census, Chicago Ridge had a population of 1,977. The ridge was first settled by Germans in 1855 and became an agricultural community with several dairy operations and a few manufacturing businesses. In 1927, the Chicago Ridge School District was formed, and the community began to grow as students from nearby towns commuting to Chicago were drawn to its amenities such as good schools and clean streets. In 1974, Chicago Ridge voters passed a referendum approving annexation into the city of Elgin. Today, Chicago Ridge remains an agricultural community with some housing developments planned for future growth along Interstate 80 (I-80).

In April 2014, after public comments were received from both industry members and individuals representing various stakeholder groups including law enforcement officials and victims' families, the USPTO released a revised NPRM defining "hard gun" as any firearm that is designed specifically for resistance against unauthorized access、alteration、or destruction. The expanded definition would apply not just to those made expressly for military or law enforcement use but also pistols, revolvers, shotguns with barrels less than 18 inches long, air rifles/ammunition magazines greater than 10 rounds per magazine, grenade launchers/grenade launchers without detonators and muzzle brakes on handguns. The proposed rulemaking goes beyond simply extending coverage to firearms manufacturers who have never before been required to register their products with the USPTO; it would also require them to do so if they want continued government support in connection with their product development programs.
