Airguns have been around for over a hundred years, and Chicago Ridge is home to one of the oldest continuously operating airguns clubs in the United States. The club was founded in 1903 by two friends, George A. Smith and Willis H. Withers, and has since grown into one of the biggest airgun clubs in the Midwest. The history of airguns can be traced back to 1887 when a small group of men from Illinois decided to start shooting birds with pistols. They called their new sport “gunnery” and began shooting at various locations around town. At first they used pistols but eventually they switched to rifles. Soon enough they had a small army of shooters that would defend their property from trespassers, thieves, and other criminals. Over time different groups formed within the gunnery community as firearms became more available and guns became more advanced. Eventually there were several major leagues which competed against each other for supremacy in the field of gunnery. Some of these leagues included: The National Rifle Association (NRA), muzzleloader societies (MLSs), shotgun associations (SAAs), rifle associations (RAAs), pistol societies (PSOs),and shotgun teams (STTs). Each league had its own rules and regulations which kept members safe while practicing their sport. In addition to all this competition there was also fun involved in playing airgun matches – many times these were won by way of lucky shots or strategic placement of pellets on targets at long ranges! In 1923 George A Smith passed away leaving his extensive collection of handguns including some very old American-made rifles behind him. Willis H Withers took up Smith’s challenge and started organizing regular airgun tournaments with prizes ranging from $100 to $2000 dollars! These tournaments allowed people from all over Illinois to come out and compete against each other without worrying about getting robbed or losing any equipment! But even better was when Withers opened up his own range which he named “Chicago Ridge Airguns” – this allowed people from throughout Chicago Ridge to come shoot together without having to travel far! This period marked an important turning point for airgun enthusiasts across Illinois as it provided a great opportunity for newcomers to get involved in what was once known as an extremely competitive field!

Chicago Ridge is a small town located in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 3,462 at the 2000 census. The first people in Chicago Ridge were Indian Chief Washington's band of Erie Indians who lived along the Miami River. The area was first settled by white men in 1836 when they came across a claim made by Captain John Richardson. Richardson named his new land Chicago Ridge after his home country of Ireland. After Illinois became a state in 1818, settlers began moving into this area and eventually built what are today some of the tallest buildings in Chicago including One hundred Nighthawk Place and Two Hundred State Street. Chicago Ridge is also home to one of Illinois' largest shopping malls which opened its doors on November 15th 1990 called "The mall at Grayslake". The mall has over 350 stores including Macy's, Sears, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus etc., as well as restaurants such as Olive Garden and Pizzeria Bastianini. In addition to its retail amenities, Chicago Ridge also has a public library system with over 1 million items including books, periodicals and software. Today Chicago Ridge is an agricultural community that produces maize (a type of corn), wheat (a type of flour), soybeans (for animal feed), potatoes and other vegetables. There are also several small businesses located here that provide services such as lawn care or petitting services for local homes
