Over time various private businesses also established themselves in this neighboorhood including meatpacking plants ( Armour & Brother), breweries ( Miller Brewing Company and DeKalb Brewery), auto dealerships ( Peake Chevrolet Sales Co.), cigar manufacturers ( Havana Cigar Co.), grocery stores ( Heinz Field Grocery Stores), beauty supply stores ( J & G Hairstyling Supply), movie theaters( Regal Theaters) and more! Today there are still many reminders that Chicago Heights was once a very different place than it is today with homes dating back to before World War I such as: Beaux Arts style mansions called Founders Terrace which were built in 1916; Tudor Revival style buildings built between 1923-1927 including one called Eaton Place which housed an elevator company; Craftsman Style houses built from 1928 until 1961; bungalows/cottages constructed during prohibition Era; as well as more recent builds like single family homes/condos throughout 2019!
