Chatham was a small town in Chatham County, Illinois, United States. The population was 553 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Peoria metropolitan area. The first Holster Shop in Chatham opened in 1892 and was run by Isadore Fenton. holster-makers of that time typically made holsters for pistols and revolvers, but also produced other items such as knives, canteens, and fishing rods. In 1916, Ira Sells started a saddlemaker business on North Main Street and continued to produce holsters until he closed his store in 1953. He had been making saddles for gunfighters since 1881. In 1922, Donny Wiegand opened a hardware store on South Broad Street which became the center of holster production until it closed in 1984. Wiegand manufactured handguns, shotguns and ammunition from 1911 through 1976. In 1951 Virgil Kramer opened his leather goods business on East Market Street which became one of the leading companies producing high-quality holsters for both plainJane revolvers (the predominant handgun type at that time) as well as subcompact pistols like the Glock 19/21 series models (manufactured by Glock Inc.) In 1978 John Ladd founded H&K Manufacturing Inc., which became one of the most important holster manufacturers in America during the 1990s with products like the HK USP9 pistol and P226 chambered for 9mm Luger rounds among others

Chatham is a small town in central Illinois, located on the east bank of the Mississippi River. The population was 2,604 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria-Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Chatham were French traders in 1679. They named the settlement after their ship, La Chatham, which had reached that location on its way from France to trade with India. A post office was established in 1824, and by 1870, it had a population of 1,500 residents. In 1881, Chatham became a station on the Illinois Central Railroad's Western Division. The railroad built a depot here and also constructed two tracks leading to it from Carbondale and Normal. In 1912, Chatham incorporated as a village under the name of Village of Champaign Township (later Champaign-Urbana), but reverted back to its original name in 1915 when township status was discontinued within village boundaries. During World War II, Chatham sustained damage from bombing raids by American forces; however no casualties occurred as a result. The town has experienced some economic setbacks since then; nevertheless, it remains an important agricultural center for surrounding counties and has seen recent development in its commercial area including several large local grocery stores and restaurants as well as new homes developments over the past few years..

Chatham is a town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Chatham was John Morrissey who arrived in 1837. In 1846, David Herron and his brother James moved to Chatham from Webster Groves, Illinois. They built a log cabin on the east side of the present-day intersection of Maple and Elm Streets. In 1848, Chatham became part of Michigan Territory when that territory was divided between Missouri and Illinois. In 1850, Chatham's post office was opened with five surcharges for postage due to its remote location. From 1850 to 1861, it served as an important stop on the Underground Railroad as fugitives fled slavery in Illinois into Canada or other parts of America. When Kansas became a state in 1861, Chatham became one of its cities; it had been a rural village since 1834. In 1870, it annexed the neighboring town of Park Ridge; together they formed what is now known as Chicagoland (). In 1898–99, $1 million were appropriated by Congress to build Union Pacific Railway tracks through Kane County causing much concern among residents about possible development along those tracks (the "Kane County Famine" or "Great Chicago Fire"). This donation helped preserve many homes and businesses within what is now Chatham Village while also helping to create some new ones nearby including Parkridge and Lincoln Woods neighborhoods adjacent to Union Station which continue today as North Side Business Districts (NSBD). A store fire destroyed most buildings within minutes on October 15th 1904 during prohibition era prohibition fueled violence called "The Great Chicago Pint Night Riot" resulting in 50+ injuries including 11 fatalities with over $200 thousand worth damages done . The rioters looted stores throughout downtown Chi
Chatham, Illinois was founded in 1803 by the Chatham family. The family operated a small farm near present day Chatham until they sold it in 1814. In that year, they moved to a more permanent location and began growing corn on their land. They also raised livestock and grew grapes for wine. In 1825, the Chatham family donated their farmstead to the Illinois General Assembly as a gift in recognition of their contributions to statehood. The building that still stands on their property is now used as the Illinois Capitol Building.
