Eventually, these businesses began to merge into one another, and eventually Target Wharf became the primary Targets business in Channahon. Throughout the years, Target Wharf has been an important part of the community because it has been able to provide customers with quality targets at affordable prices.
Channahon is a town in Macomb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,520 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Channahon was Levi Dunham in 1836. A post office called Channahon was established in 1855, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903. Channahon won the prestigious John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum Award for excellence in library design in 1984. The Channahon-based CTA Railway also built a branch line from Channahon to Mokena in 1902. In the early 20th century, many of the people who founded Channahon were farmers and their families who raised corn, hay, tomatoes, and other crops on small parcels of land around the village center. By 1930 most of these farmers had migrated to larger cities or removed to new states; however a few residents remain today working on local farms orchards and dairy herds while living off grid within walking distance of their homes. Mormons arrived during this time as missionaries proselytizing for Jesus Christ among some of the original settlers; they built a chapel which still stands today near the village square (now known as "Church Square" due to its location). In 1954 an organized group of Latter-day Saints bought property east of Church Square from out-of-town developers with plans to build a monastery there; however soon after construction commenced vandalism against both church buildings and privateternal property by unknown persons caused them to abandon all plans for that project shortly before it began fundraising difficulties forced them to sell much of their acreage back into open field condition just north of Church Square where they currently operate a small retail store/cafeteria complex providing services such as groceries, food delivery (!), plumbing (toilet & shower service),and laundry services directed towards Mormon members attending BYU downriver (now Kankakee County) . There is no doubt that without effort by those responsible for ensuring that Mormonism's presence here did not become overwhelming we would not now be able to enjoy what remains one of America's oldest active LDS congregations

Channahon is a small town in Dixon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,539 at the 2010 census. Channahon is located on the banks of the Kankakee River. The community was founded in 1871 by Danish immigrants and it became a part of Dixon County when that county was created from parts of Kendall and Cook Counties in 1872. The first post office in Channahon was established in 1872 and remained open until 1907. The first store opened in Channahon on Main Street in 1873. In 1895, the Channahon water tower was built and remains an important landmark to the community today. The first school district was organized in 1898 and Channahon School District No. 1 has been operational since then. In 1922, a dam was constructed across the Kankakee River which eventually led to the flooding of much of downtown Channahon as a result of heavy rains during the Great Chicago Floods of 1922-1923. Despite this event, most residents still live within walking distance or bike riding distance of their homes today; however, some businesses have relocated due to changes in river conditions over time or other factors such as development downstream on Kankakee Boulevard (now Wabash Avenue). One significant event that took place during Channahon's history occurred on Halloween night, 1973 when more than 100 people were killed when two short-lived bombs exploded near CHANHON High School during Trick or Treat festivities; both devices failed to detonate prematurely according to investigators at the time and no one Was injured as a result investigative efforts revealed no explosives were hidden inside either device despite its appearance upon detonation
Channahon, Illinois was founded in 1834 by the Channahon family. The Channahons are one of the oldest white families in the state of Illinois. They came to this area from Kentucky in 1811. The Channahons built a log cabin on their land and started a small farm. In 1865, they donated their land to the University of Chicago. Today, the Channahons continue to live on their land and donate it to various organizations.
