That year, a group of men attempted to rob a store in the town and they weresuccessfully stopped by local police. The men who attempted the robbery had earlier purchased a shotgun from an acquaintance and were intending to use it to try and take away the store owner’s merchandise.
Channahon is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1857 as a result of the West Point-Peoria Railroad coming through the area. The name comes from Mount Channahon, which is located about east of town. In 1887, Channahon became one of the townships within McLean County and was enlarged to include all of what are now eastern McLean County and parts of Aurora Township. Channahon had its first post office on April 15, 1887. It operated under the name "Hendricksville". On November 3rd, 1908, it changed its name to "Channahon". On February 14th 1915 it passed away when it merged with neighboring Florence to form the new village of Peoria. In 1920 Channahon annexed a portion of south Aurora Township which made it into a full township once again. In 1930 Channahon amalgamated with several other villages in Peoria to become one municipality again but kept its original name - until August 31st 1976 when it changed back to Channahon after merging with adjacent Village of East Troy (now part of Chicago). On July 1st 1984 Channahon incorporated as a village by order of then-Governor Jim Edgar after winning an election against incumbent Village President John Fenton (a Republican). It has since experienced numerous changes – becoming an unincorporated community on December 16th 1999; annexing portions of north Aurora Township on December 5th 2002; becoming part of Chicago's South Side on May 2nd 2004; being reincorporated as a separate village once again on October 11th 2006 by order of then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel following approval from both chambersof the Illinois General Assembly; and finally becoming an incorporated community once more effective January 1st 2009 following passage by both chambersof the Illinois legislature as part that year's state budget - making it one OF THE 100 Villages IN ILLINOIS!

In 1934, the National Firearms Act (NFA) was passed which made it illegal to own or sell firearms that could be fired at least five times per year. It also created licensing requirements for those who wanted to buy or possess firearms. The NFA was later repealed in 1993 but its provisions stillapply today. As of 2019, there are currently over 2 million NFA-registered firearms in the United States. In 1971, an NRA-backed bill was introduced into the US Congress which would have allowed Americans to carry concealed weapons without having to obtain a license from the state in which they lived. However, this proposal failed to pass despite strong lobbying by the NRA. A number of subsequent attempts were made at passing Concealed Carry Bills through Congress but all were unsuccessful until 2013 when then-Senator Joe Manchin filed H R 621 also known as “Reciprocity for unloaded handguns” which became effective on July 1st 2014 . This measure allowed states that already had Concealed Pistol Laws within their bordersto continue doing so while adding federal reciprocity requirements for those states whose laws did not yet meet federal standards
There have been a number of hard gun cases in recent history. The first was the Winchester-Houston case in 1903, which involved the shooting of two gunmen at a movie theater in Houston, Texas. The gunman who committed the crime, named John Houston, was shot and killed by police officer George Peppard after he ran from the theater. This event is generally considered to be one of the earliest instances of self-defense against an attacker with a handgun.
