Scope mounts have been a part of carpentry for centuries. The first mounted sighting device was the astrolabe, which was used to measure angles in star-gazing. In 1795, Benjamin Latimer patented an improved version of this telescope mount, which he called the "Latimer Telescope Mount." In 1820, Nicholas-Jacques Conte created a new type of scope mounting known as the "Contescope." This mount featured a screw thread on one side that allowed the user to adjust the magnification and focus. In 1868, Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed and built the world's first permanent astronomical observatory on Long Island. Known as Smithsonian Institution Observatory #1, this observatory was located on High Hill in Queens County and had a combined aperture size of 38 feet (12 meters). During its operation, Saint-Gaudens used his telescope mounts to collect data about celestial objects including stars and planets. By 1908, most Americans were using hand held telescopes instead of traditional telescopes for viewing purposes. As result, scope mounts began becoming less common and were gradually replaced by electronic devices such as video cameras and digital image sensors. However, some amateur astronomers still use scope mounts today.

The population was just over 1,000 at its peak in the early 1800s and it continued to grow until after the Civil War. After the war, Carpenterstown slowly declined as people moved away and lost interest in the area. However, it has since seen a resurgence with new residents moving in and growing businesses. Today, Carpenterstown is one of the most vibrant communities in northeastern Illinois and is home to many popular attractions such as Carpentersville Park, which features a baseball park and playground for children as well as a library and museum.
Carpentersville, Illinois is a small town located in McLean County, Illinois. The population was 3,752 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The first settlers in Carpentersville were farmers who arrived around 1814. They started out cultivating land and raising livestock. By 1827, they had built a log cabin on the site that would become the nucleus of what would later be known as Carpentersville. In 1842, John Bache purchased land in Carpentersville from Pierre Thibodeaux for $1 cash and 10 shares of Wabash Railroad stock. This set the stage for what would be one of the most successful businesses in town’s history – property development and agricultural marketing services to local farmers and their families. In 1861, Samuel Morse bought a farm in nearby Centre Point for $5 per acre; this gave him control over much of what is now downtown Carpentersville. His business grew rapidly and he soon became one of its largest donors, helping to build churches and other important civic structures here such as the Masonic Lodge No. 1 (1875), Village Hall (1912), Post Office (1914), and several schools including Central High School (1892) which still stands today! During World War I, Carpentersville served as an airfields supply depot providing military aircraft with fuel and materials needed for combat missions over Europe. After hostilities ceased in 1918, many of these businesses closed down but some continued operations until 1921 when Samuel Morse sold his interest to Harry Heiser who operated it alone until his death in 1951). In 1932-33 carpenter Jens Jensen opened up his own shop on Main Street which continues to serve as a major source of income for both locals and visitors today! In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place within downtown Carpentersville spearheaded by Mayor Tom Muehlberger with plans to renovate/update many existing buildings while also creating new ones including: new clinic/medical center (opened July 2016), high school - opening January 2019 (replacing Central High School which was destroyed by fire two years ago), large parking garage adjacent to city hall which will provide more than enough space for future growth without affecting current residents or businesses; additional public infrastructure projects such as new streetlights (coming soon!), street paving & watermain replacement; installation of wi-fi throughout town; And finally……a brand new library building slated to open late summer 2018!

Carpentersville is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The two main roads through Carpentersville are I-57 and US-42. The first people to live in what is now Carpentersville were Native Americans who came from the village of Kankakee on the upper Vandalia River in 1814. They were followed by settlers from New England and Germany in the early 1800s. In 1830, John Stephenson built a log cabin on the site now known as Stephenson's Store. He became one of Carpentersville's earliest residents and developed a successful farm business. In 1851, James Sweatt moved his family to Carpentersville from Dodge City, Kansas. Sweatt founded Sweatt & Company hardware store here which became one of Illinois' largest stores for more than fifty years until it closed its doors in 1978. He also served as mayor of Carpentersville for six terms between 1951 and 1974; he was twice elected unopposed because no other candidate could run against him due to term limits set by then-Governor Michael Dukakis). A post office called Carpenterstown was established in 1856, but it did not remain active for long; it was discontinued less than one year after opening because so many local residents preferred to use the name "Carpenterstown" (which had already been given to an adjacent community located 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Carpentersville). The first school in CarpentERSVILLE was opened in Afton Township on APRIL 2ND 1860 by Mr Emerson Piggott with 3 students Grades 1-4th grade... With all these changes taking place, we cannot help but feel that there has never been any real continuity or architecture throughout our history! This would be especially true if we compare our Townspeople back when we started off as nothing more then scattered individuals roaming around this small place looking for work!
Carpentersville was founded in 1834 by Nicholas Carpenters. The town was originally named Butler and became Carpentersville after the death of Nicholas's father, Jonas Carpenters. The townspeople voted to rename it after Nicholas in 1853.
