Carpentersville, Illinois is the most recent town in Carbondale County. It was founded in 1879 by a group of men who wanted to create a new town on the eastern border of Carbondale County. The first store opened in 1881. The community grew rapidly and soon had a school, grocery, post office, and cotton gin. In 1916, Carpentersville incorporated as a village. By 1950, it had over 1,200 residents. In 1955, Carpentersville became an unincorporated area within Carbondale County.
Carpentersville is a small town in the Kane County area of Illinois. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census, up from 4,722 at the 2000 census. It is located on Illinois Route 1 near the Indiana state line. The first people to live in Carpentersville were white settlers from Kentucky who arrived in 1810. By 1830, there were five families living in Carpentersville. Two years later, many more people had moved to the town and it grew rapidly. In 1836, Carpentersville became a town charter and adopted its current name of "Carpentersville." The town has experienced some tough times over the years but it has also been home to some of America's most famous architects and engineers including Augustus Saint-Gaudens and George Dearborn. Many residents have also worked in local businesses such as First National Bank and Jardine & Kenyon Lumber Company which remain active today.

Carpentersville is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,987 at the 2010 census. It was originally known as Arlington Park and then Carpentersville. In 1881, George Halsey purchased 2,000 acres of land east of Carrollton from John A. Gossett for $5 per acre. He named the tract Arlington Park after his home state of Virginia. In 1892, Harry Lisle built the first fire booth in Kane County and opened it to the public at his farm on what is now US-10 near present-day Carpentersville. The booth served as a campfire stop for travelers on their way to or from Chicago or other points east. Carpentersville became an incorporated village in 1912 under the name Arlington Park. The original business district around Carpentersville included 11 businesses including two banks and six grocery stores which were all founded before 1920 when Bridgeport Grocery moved to its current location adjacent to Mowry's Store on Main Street across from Arlington High School (now part of Kankakee Community College). The post office located at 202 S Elm St until 1963 was also one of the early businesses in town; it closed due to low mail volumes but reopened as Archer Post Office with new equipment in 1985 after being abandoned for many years by its previous occupants In 1916 there was a smallpox epidemic that caused over 100 deaths and left much damage in town; however local doctor Dr White aided efforts to quench the outbreak and prevent more fatalities
Carpentersville was founded in 1853 by George H. Carpenter and his brother-in-law, Nicholas Bemis. The carpentry trade soon became a important part of the local economy and the town grew rapidly. In 1907, the Carpentersville School District was created and carpentry became an essential part of that district's curriculum. By 1930, the town had over 100 businesses and had become known for its high quality woodworking products.
