Carpentersville, Illinois is a city in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 6,811 at the 2010 census. It was founded as a small town in 1871 by men who were carpenters and woodworkers. The first store was built on the corner of Elm and Center Streets. In 1904, the town became part of McHenry County. The first ammunition company in Carpentersville was Armour & Company which opened a store on Elm Street in 1871. Armour & Company manufactured rifles and shotguns for military use and also exported these products to Europe. Ammunition manufacturers began to form around this time as it became apparent that there were new markets for firearms across the world. In 1904, Armour & Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester Ammunition Corporation which continued to produce firearms and ammo under different names until 1970 when it merged into Browning Firearms Corporation. At its peak during World War II, Winchester Ammunition Corporation produced over 2 million rounds of ammunition per day! Today, Winchester Ammunition Corporation continues to produce firearms and ammo under different names including American Eagle Ammo and Remington Arms Incorporated.

The Carpentersville community began as a small farmstead on the banks of the Sangamon River in 1847. A post office was established in 1849 and named after John C. Carpenter, an early settler. By 1860, there were 8 families living in Carpentersville. The first school opened in 1861 and taught grades one through eight. In 1865, Andrew Jenson purchased land adjoining Carpenter's Creek to build what would become known as Jenson Park. By 1870, there were over 20 families living in Carpentersville and businesses had sprung up catering to their needs such as groceries, flourmills, sawmills and more than one hundred dwellings including ten hotels and sixty-six stores by 1875. In 1885, Cyrus Lyle moved from Aurora to start his own lumber business called Lyle & Company which soon became one of the largest dealers of flooring throughout America. Cottonwood lumber was dominant during this time due to its high quality andrelative ease of transportation; carpentry became a necessary skill for many farmers who used it To build their homes and barns out of woodchips found near fields or creek beds Carpentersville experienced rapid growth following World War II when demand for military hardware soared across all industries because of the war effort In 1957, tornado damage destroyed most of downtown Carpentersville with only 9% remaining standing by 1961 As commerce resumed normal operations nearby some new buildings were built while others collapsed leaving an eerie scene behind like something out Of Time

Royalist forces had begun using muskets with powder composed of shot, lead or wax instead of metal balls and bolts from 1644 onwards – these weapons were ineffective against French troops who had better guns with round shots capable of penetrating armour. By 1648 there were over 1 million muskets in England alone! With such high demand for munitions during the English Civil War ammunition prices plummeted due to shortages caused by importation restrictions placed on France. In 1795 an act was passed making it illegal for anyone under 21 years old to purchase any arms or ammunition without prior consent from their parent or guardian; this law became known as the Gun Control Act because it made buying arms much harder than it had been before! Unfortunately this law did not stop crimesters from obtaining firearms through loopholes like those found around London’s Leicester Square where handguns could be bought cheaply without registration

Carpentersville was founded in 1835 as a small farming community named after Nicholas Carpenter, an early settler and builder of homes in that area. In 1854, the first railroad reached Carpentersville and by 1860 it had grown to over 1,000 residents. By 1870 it had become an important manufacturing center for carpets and other flooring products. Many of the town's businesses still operate today including Carpenter's Flooring store which has been located here since 1892. In 1925, Carpentersville became one of the original towns in Sangamon County when its boundaries were changed to include most of present day Carbondale and Urbana counties along with all or part of Decatur and Waukegan in Winnebago County (now Kane County). The growth of Carbondale and Urbana led to increased development within Carpentersville itself with many new brick buildings being erected throughout the years including several high-rise apartment buildings that still stand today. In recent decades much development has taken place outside of town limits such as around Carbondale on Highway 159 just east oftown limits where several large shopping malls have been built providing further opportunities for retail development within town limits while at the same time maintaining some degree of connection to downtown Carpentersville via arterial streets/roads
