Carol Stream is a small town in Illinois, located in the heart of the Midwestern United States. It is known for its large shopping center and other cultural attractions. The town has a population of about 14,000 people and was founded in 1852. Carol Stream is also home to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, one of America's largest universities. The town was named after Captain John Fitch, who sailed into Lake Michigan on his way to find a new fur trade route. Fitch's descendants were among the first settlers in what is now Carol Stream. In 1852, the town was incorporated as a city by an act of the legislature. The city had been established as a result of efforts by members of the Methodist Episcopal denomination to found a church in Illinois that could serve both urban and rural residents. In 1951, when Chicago annexed part of Cook County, including Carol Stream, the city council decided that since it would be more difficult for people living in Chicago to get to their jobs in Carol Stream than it would be for them to go into work in Cook County (the village then included portions of suburban Park Ridge and Lawndale), they should have their own city government within their own boundaries rather than amalgamate with Chicago. This decision helped solidify Carol Stream's status as an independently vibrant community outside of Chicago's increasingly competitive mayor-council system. The shopping center opened its doors on October 16th, 1978; at that time it was one of only two large mall complexes open throughout North America (the other being Aon Center). Carol Stream is a city in Illinois, United States. The population was 24,902 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. History of Carol Stream begins with the founding of Carol Stream Township on December 2, 1837 by brothers Moses and Solomon Dayton. The first post office in town was established in 1838. In 1845, residents voted to name the town after President James K. Polk who had just been elected to office. The city was platted on September 25, 1856 by Jotham Hargrave and James Crain from land grant given them by the General Government of Illinois for their portion of that State lying east of the Sangamon River. In 1860, when slavery was abolished in America and people began arriving from all over to work on Native American reservations near Chicago, they brought their homes with them and set up shop in what is now Carol Stream. By 1870 there were more than 100 businesses in town with a population of 1,200 people. When white men started coming westward into what is now Illinois they started buying up Indian land which made it easier for them to get ahead economically because they could sell it back at a much higher price to the Indians than if it had been owned outright by them. So while settlers were moving into town there were also waves of Migration (people coming from other parts of America) driving out Native Americans who had managed to keep most or all of their land during the Pony Express era when mail service between Missouri and Illinois only operated sporadically due to wars going on between those two states’ governments; however this did not stop Indian raids against farmers living along these routes as well as anyone else caught traveling through Indian country without permission or protection from some powerful chiefs/leaders! The early days saw many churches being built but by 1870 only one Catholic church was functioning in town – Stations Chapel which later became Our Lady Of Loretto Shrine after being donated by Mrs Laddie Madden (the mother-in-law of Mayor John Fenton). Despite this lack thereof Catholicism continued to play an important role throughout most OFM history especially since many INM members came directly from Ireland where there were very few Catholics – even fewer who wanted anything to do with organized religion! There have always been rich farming valleys within close proximity urban areas throughout North America so when railroads arrived things changed quickly – here too OFM played an important role helping merchants buy goods needed for growing crops along new lines linking eastern Kentucky and northwestern Indiana while bypassing much earlier settlements near Chicago! However like everywhere else late 19th century America grew rapidly despite major natural disasters such as typhoons Haiyan (2005), Katrina (2007), Maria (2013) etc., largely due advances made technology wise including telephone ringspotters working long distances during these tragedies! Finally “Carroll County” wasn’t actually created until 1907 when townships within present day Carbondale & Park Forest incorporated giving rise finallyto what we know today as Carol Stream City Limits!!
