In Illinois, the first gun light was developed in 1868. It consisted of a small metal disk with a bright light on it that could be used to signal for help. In 1976, the state legislature passed the Gun Light bill which authorized the use of gun lights by law enforcement officers in order to better see through darkness. The law went into effect on July 1, 1976. From then until now, gun lights have been standard equipment across all levels of law enforcement in Illinois. Today, gun lights are often used by police departments to identify potential criminals while they are fleeing or when making an arrest. Additionally, they can be used during hunting and fishing tournaments as well as other purposes where visibility is necessary

Carol Stream is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Carol Stream" comes from English settlers who named it for Carola, a nun who had been brought up near Canterbury in England. The stream that flows through the town was originally known as Little Carpathia and later became known as the Big Carpathia because it flowed through two large meadows on its way to the south. The first store in Carol Stream opened in 1872 and was run by Amos Kendall and his brother-in-law, Nathan Myrick. In 1876, Wm. Henson built a mill on the north side of Main Street and started manufacturing flour, feedstocks, paints, plastics and other items. In 1916, when George Ransom founded Ransom Chemical Company on behalf of his father-in-law Harry Wolcott Chase Jr., Carol Stream became one of Chase's many businesses. In 1954, Charles Eppel bought land adjacent to the Town Hall site for $3 million dollars which he used to build what is now called "Eppel Place." When Congress passed the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in 1965 (ESEA), which created public schools throughout Illinois using state funds rather than private money, Eppel Place became an early model for what would become Carol Stream Schools District #5 (now School District 111). Since then, many new buildings have been constructed including three high schools - North High School (opened in 1955), South High School (opened in 1966) and Westinghouse High School (opened in 1998). A new elementary school - John Fenton Elementary - opened in 1997 on land donated by Mrs. Lillian Fenton with support from Friends ofEducation Foundation Incorporated. According to 2000 US Census figures*, about one third of all households living within 1 mile (1 km) of any school are either low income or uninsured;* this percentage rises significantly within 3 miles (~5 km) or so of any school.* This has led to some tension between parents trying to get their children into good schools while also accommodating parents' needs for affordable child care without having their child attend classes at home;* however*, much progress has been made since 2008 when CPSD announced plans to close five low income high schools across Chicago due to budget cuts*. * According to a report prepared by Chicago Coalition for Educational Options/Forrest Gump Institute entitled " Closing Five Low Income High Schools: Burden or Benefit?", more than half (~57%) students attending these schools did not receive free or reduced cost lunches during 2013–14 academic year.;* even though these students are likely largely covered by government assistance programs such as Free Lunch Program administered by Department Of Public Instruction

Carol Stream is a small town located in the heart of Illinois. It is home to the famous University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, one of the most popular schools in the United States. The town also has a rich history that can be found through its citizens and businesses. Carol Stream was founded by two sisters, who named it after their mother’s birthplace, Carrolstown, Maryland. The sisters had married while still in college and were soon unable to find a place to live together so they decided to move into separate homes. They started a small grocery store on the corner of First Street and Maple Avenue and quickly became known as “The Grocery Gang” for their supplying local farmers with fresh produce items. In 1907, when World War I began, Carol Stream’s residents volunteered for military service and raised money for war supplies. After hostilities ceased, they reopened the store and continued to sell supplies until 1949 when they sold it all to Pepsi-Cola Company for $1 million dollars. At this point in time, Coca-Cola was just starting up its company operations and wanted control over all aspects of Carol Stream life including business decisions such as what products to produce or offer for sale. As part of this agreement, both companies shared ownership of the town post office which remains open today (though not used anymore). During the 1960s and 1970s, Carol Stream experienced many changes due to development around it from shopping malls and Auto Parts stores onto larger campuses housing more universities than ever before. However, during those years there was also much progress made within the community with new parks being built as well as several new businesses opening up including an ice cream shop called “Creamfields” which served up delicious flavors such as mint chocolate chip cookies until it closed down in 2003 after twenty years in business! In recent years there have been few if any changes however things are looking up with plans underway for a new high school which will bring much needed investment back into town!
