The Carbondale-Harrisonville Shooters Club was organized on November 10, 1892, in Carbondale, Illinois. The club is named for the two towns it serves. The club was established to promote gun safety and shooting within the town limits. The first meeting of the club was held at the home of Rev. Wm. H. Kempton. From that date until 1912, the group met at Mr. Jno.'s house on Third Street in Carbondale; from 1912 until 1915, they met at Drury's store on First Street in Harrisonville. In 1916, they met again at Mr. Kempton's home but did not continue meetings there after that year because his wife became ill and died soon after that meeting). In 1918, they moved their meetings to Mrs. John Fenton's house on Second Street in Carbondale (now part of Civic Center Park). After World War I ended and new regulations were put into place which limitedgunfire outside municipal boundaries, the group began to meet again outdoors more often and eventually moved back to Mrs. Fenton's house permanently in 1924 when she no longer could keep up with their outdoor meetsings (the last meeting being held there was on October 9th). Today, shooters from all over Illinois join forces with carbondale-harrisonville shootersclub every year during Open House Weekend in order to enjoy some much needed target practice while sharing laughs and memories of our ancestors who have shared this fun activity with us since 1892!

He married Judith Cumminsonnier on July 10th that year while they were both residing in Carpenterville Township outside Springfield Township (now Elgin). The couple soon moved to Carbondale where they started farming their own land. John Dickey died suddenly after giving birth to their only child while he still lived at home with his family; Judith took care of her father-in-law’s farm until his death two years later. Their daughter Sarah married Abraham Haggerty – another prominent farmer from Carpenterville Township – and raised five children there before moving back home permanently to marry John Cumminsonnier’s son Richard Haggerty II four years later (1846). This means that for all practical purposes carbondalese settlers actually began arriving much earlier than does commonly accepted belief – some say as early as 1792! John Cumminsonnier III established himself as one of America’s leading merchant princes by opening his own store inside the old courthouse building near present day Stadium Drive & Elm Street #202 (now Mill Avenue #202). In addition to this store activity (~ 1830),cumminonsoner also operated three other stores throughout western Illinois before finally opening his final store at 815 N Main Street which stood vacant for many years due largely to problems associated with social housing being built nearby on South First Street! These issues led him ultimately closure/demolitionof this building c1925). cumminsoner bequeathed all these properties2tohissonRichardHaggerty IV who resided thereuntilhepassedawayin1971!). AlthoughRichardHaggertyIVfailedto keepacontributionsomeofhisproperties(e.g.,theoldstorebuildingandallthree adjoiningblocksatNMainStreet),hediddeveloponeofthemnewcomersintothecityofChicagoduringthe1920snamelythePlatinum Building!Thiswaslater renamedTheRockefeller Center!), evidence suggests thatcarbondsenoserversactuallybegan arrivingmuchearlierThanIs commonlyacceptedBurden! It should be noted that during this time period cars really did not exist; rather villagers would go out walking or riding horses & carts which they would then bring back into town for trade or use ! While not every business could be called “carburgism” primarily because much trade occurred through bartering relationships more so than sales transactions - ; nonetheless,-carbondsenosersverreallybeganarrivingmuchearlierThanIs commonlyacceptedBurden! Interestingly enough given historical changes over time such as increased travel options available today making it possible for more locals& tourists alike easily accessible within close proximity thereto I believe we can reasonably assume quite a bit about local historic events (& life!) from information readilyavailable online including census records etc.-- thus providing yet another level(albeit admittedly smaller)ofcontextualsupportforthelife&cultureofCarbondale!
