The Cahokia Gun Target Museum is a museum located in Cahokia, Illinois which remembers the history of gun targets. The museum was created in 1984 by Gene and Jeanette Kelloway. It is open to the public every day from 9am to 4pm. The Cahokia Gun Target Museum tells the story of how guns have been used to kill people and animals throughout history. The target range has three ranges: an indoor range for handguns, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and bows; a outdoor range with six shooting lanes for handguns, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and bows; and a ground floor exhibit with more than 100target specimens from around the world. All of the target specimens are displayed in small cases on display case that can be opened or closed according to your viewing preferences. According to curator Tom Ziegler “Cahokia’sGun TTarget Museum preserves evidence of human shootings dating back as early as 1000 BC while also displaying objects that illustrate aspects of firearms culture through today’s technologies including digital photo frames and interactive exhibits that allow visitors to shoot targets at their own pace.” 2 million rounds were fired at targets at this museum during its first year open!

Cahokia is a village in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,024 at the 2010 census. Cahokia was founded by the Potawatomi and other Native Americans in 1790 as the village of Kaskaskia. It was named for Colonel George Rogers Clark's regiment which had moved through upper Illinois during the War of 1812. In 1814, after General James K. Polk's Invasion of Canada and its resulting war with Great Britain, Cahokia became part of the United States following the signing of the Treaty of Ghent that ended the American Civil War. It continued to be an incorporated village until 1984 when it became a charter city under then-Mayor Richard M. Daley's leadership. The first white settlers arrived in what is now LaSalle County in 1790; they were led by Captain John Cook from England and his party that included thirteen men and two women on horseback called "the British Pioneers." They were followed several years later by Isaac French who founded Whitefish Bayou near present day Chicago while he was serving as surveyor for French Territory east of Lake Michigan. French named their new settlement after his brother-in-law Major Pierre-Jean Le Moyne de l'Isle (1724–1793), captain commanding a brigade fighting under Marquis de Lafayette against English forces at Borgo Leone in 1789 during Queen Victorias War with France (see Battle of Borgo Leone). By 1800, most villages had been abandoned due to disease or exhaustion from conflict with nearby Indian tribes such as the Potawatomi and Kickapoo; only Kaskaskia remained active into next century despite declining populations due to land acquisition by whites, military engagement, natural disasters such as floods and fires, Comanche raids on settlements along Missouri River valley beginning in 1836–37) In 1814 when General James K. Polk invaded Canada during its war with Great Britain over control of Upper Canada including Quebec City – an event which caused many Creek Indians to migrate southward – Kahoka became part of Ulysses S Grant's victorious army occupying much Ofonta territory east of modern day Streator among other Illinois communities such as Peoria Heights near Peoria and Calumet Village near Decatur (now suburban Chicago). Aftermaths from this battle resulted in many Creek residents moving out west where they encountered numerous difficultphabetized: Hennepin County via Minnesota before turning north towards Iowa; Osage County reached by wagon train across Arkansas Fault about three miles below present day Pella; Black Hawk Country inhabited mostly by Winnebago Sioux according to 1840 census data before becoming open country finally reaching Indiana about 1850; Miami Lakes area between Ottawa Hills creek crossing just eastwest Ofonotonoononaga Creek between Muskegon Rapids National Forest boundary northwest corner Sauk Valley Wilderness Preserve northeast corner approximately 2 miles southeast Billingsgate Woods Wilderness Preserve northeast corner also within boundaries today... Kahoka lay dormant until 1884 when Mayor Richard J. Daley ordered city officials to begin consideration for incorporation into a chartered city because local citizens felt their town could not continue functioning without more attention than it currently received from government officials As mentioned earlier, Kahoka continued being an incorporated village until 1984 when it became charter city under then-Mayor Richard M2Daley’s leadership which helped improve infrastructure including expanded public services including libraries and parks along with building new schools Today there are over 6200 people living within Kahoka limits operating various businesses manufacturing products agricultural production fishing processing food retailers service providers sewerage

Cahokia is the most significant archaeological site in Illinois. Cahokia was a major center of the Mississippian culture, which flourished between 1000 and 1600 AD. The site is located in Cook County, Illinois, about 20 miles west of Chicago. The Cahokians were a major component of the Illiniweka cultural group that developed in Eastern Illinois around 1400-1400 AD. The site has been preserved as part of the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. The Cahokians were first identified by archaeologists in 1868 when they discovered an ancient pottery sequence at nearby Mound Four. In 1904, a team led by Dr. George Armstrong Stonington excavated four mounds at Cahokia and named them Mound One, Two, Three, and Four because they resembled mounds found near Philadelphia (Mound One was originally called Mound Seven). At Mound Four, archaeologists discovered several large ceramic vessels that had not been found before. These vessels are thought to have come from the city of Terre Haute (now Indianapolis) in Indiana and may be among the earliest examples of American Indian pottery. The Site at Cahokia was first settled by people sometime between 4000 BC and 3000 BC according to archeological evidence from nearby sites such as Potsdam Village and Kaskaskia Junction. By 1800 BC there were more than 50 dwellings on or around the main mound at Cahokia where people lived together in village form until around AD 1007 when they migrated to central Illinois due to advances made by the French with their occupation of Canada beginning in late 17th century BCE/early 16th century CE . Most importantly for our purposes here at Cahokia it should be noted that this Settlement occurred during times when human beings interacted with animals both directly through hunting (i dened as ‘hunting ground’)and through trade involving animal husbandry (i dened as ‘agricultural area’). It seems reasonable therefore that these humans took advantage not only of their natural resources but also those brought over from other parts of North America via maritime voyages which allowed for greater interaction with foreign cultures
