Burr Ridge is located on the south side of Cook County and is bordered by the city of Chicago to the west and north; Oak Forest to the east; and Pembroke Park to the south. The first settlers in Burr Ridge were farmers who came from northern Indiana in 1831. They started a farm called Old Settlers' Home which still stands today near what is now Burr Ridge Elementary School. The original home had four rooms with a kitchen, dining room, living room, and two bedrooms upstairs. The settlers built a barn and additions were made over time such as an oven, pantry, and other necessary structures for life on a frontier farm during the early 19th century. In 1853 John Hargrave settled in Burr Ridge after leaving his native Massachusetts. He founded Hargrave & Company lumberyard which became one of America's leading woodworking businesses until its closure in 1967. In addition to his lumberyard business John Hargrave also founded Hargrave Chevrolet (later GMC) dealership here in Burr Ridge which became one of America's largest dealerships for American-made cars before it closed in 2007. In 1865 Abraham Lincoln was assassinated here while attending nearby Ford Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church so much attention was given to this small town that local residents named their children Lincoln High School graduates because so much attention was paid to their hometown during that time period! Today, Burr Ridge continues to be an important community with its own school system including eight schools encompassing grades pre-K through 12th grade as well as several junior high schools for students aged 13-18 years old . Many people from throughout Cook County visit Burr Ridge each year for many different reasons including shopping at local stores such as Meijer or Sears while staying at local hotels like Marriott or Holiday Inn Express; watching baseball games played at Guaranteed Rate Field located just outside of town or attend picnics held outdoors on beautiful Manistee River overlooks every Saturday afternoon! Burr Ridge is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,949 at the 2010 census. Burr Ridge is located in the eastern part of the Town of North Aurora. It lies within northwestern Cook County and is bordered to the east by Burr Ridge Township and to the west by Aurora Township. The first settlers in Burr Ridge were Anthony J. D'Angelo and his wife, Anna Maria; their sons Anthony Jr., John A., and Joseph (Joe) were all born in Burr Ridge between 1838 and 1840. In 1847, John A.'s father died leaving him with three sisters – Julia Ann (Julia), Sarah Jane (Sally), and Margaret – as well as two brothers-in-law: Nicholas Fenton and Michael O'Donnell. In 1850, Nicholas built a log cabin on what would become his family's farmstead which he named "New Beginnings". They soon outgrew this farmstead, so in 1853 they moved to a new location just north of where they now live called "Mountain View". Their new home had four rooms: one room served as an upstairs bedroom for the parents together with another room used as a living room/kitchenette; there was also a large yard with hay barns and corrals for their livestock. New Beginnings continued to be occupied until around 1870 when it burned down due to bad weather conditions while Joseph was working on improving some nearby property that became known as Gilded Cage Farm afterwards. In 1865 AnnaMaria remarried into another families who lived near Burr Ridge but left her children behind when she married again about 8 miles away at Mount Pleasant Cemetery because she could not find enough work opportunities in her adopted state of Illinois for them to move there permanently like she wanted them too do. By 1870 six more children had been born to Mrs D’Angelo & Mrs Mazoni including Edward Jnr who would later serve in World War II as an aircraft mechanic aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65). Withdrawn from active military service during World War II due to health reasons caused by mustard gas exposure, Edward Jnr became a civilian contractor throughout much of his life doing contract labor both domestically & internationally wherever he went whether it be repairing airfields or building bridges or other infrastructure projectsXXXXXXX He retired from contractor work at 69 years old having worked continuously since 1942XXXXXXX At present day many descendants still reside & visit our town each year during Pioneer Days USAfest
